ITS Campus, ITS News – Kuliah Kerja Nyata Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (KKN Abmas) Team from the Department of Informatics, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) developed the SITERNAK application to help farmers. The application development took three months and aimed to help improve livestock records and control.

Angelita Titiandes Br Silalahi, Leader of the Abmas KKN, said that the development of the application departed from the request of the Al-Azhar Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ)’s farmers from Assisted Village. The main focus is to improve system appearance, which is deemed unsuited for business processes and farmer conditions. “So we are improving and developing the SITERNAK application, which has existed since 2020,” he explained.

Angel explained that the ITS KKN Abmas team she led included several activities. From preparing an application for recording livestock data, providing a guide for the operation of the SITERNAK mobile application, to monitoring and evaluating the understanding of partners and farmers after the guidance.

The team develops a device-based data recording in this application to make it easier for farmers to carry out livestock health surveillance, breeding, and fattening independently only through a smartphone. “SITERNAK development intends to make it easier for farmers to monitor all their livestock properly,” he said.

Not only developing, but the KKN team also educates farmers by conducting training on the SITERNAK application usage directly. They create an application operating manual and teach farmers how to use it. “Of course, we also monitor and evaluate the understanding of partners and breeders after the socialization,” added Angel.

The team led by Angel consists of eight people. Namely Muhammad Rafi Yudhistira, Abdul Rozak Baharudin, Dias Tri Kurniasari, Muchammad Maroqi Abdul Jalil, Aulia Eka Putri Aryani, Vyra Fania Adelina, Anggara Yuda Pratama, and Brananda Denta Wira Pranata.

Angel hopes that through her team’s SITERNAK application development activities, it will be more beneficial for farmers to facilitate the supervision and care of their livestock. “With that too, we hope that this application can contribute to advancing the livestock sector in Indonesia,” she concluded.
