Information on requirements and registration series for the first wave of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) or 2022 International Class at ITS

ITS Campus, ITS News – Starting the process of admitting new students in 2022 at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), registration for the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) or International Class wave I is now open. The registration process has been going on from February 14 to March 31 and is open to all prospective high school graduates in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The Head of the Admissions Sub-directorate (Kasubdit) of the ITS Education Directorate Dr Eng Unggul Wasiwitono ST MEngSc said prospective IUP students can directly visit the https://admission.its.ac.id/ page and create an account to register. After activating the account, registrants need to fill the required biodata and attach several required documents.

Documents that need to be attached are transcripts of report cards, certificates of English proficiency, motivation letters, and letters of parental approval. For prospective registrants who come from abroad, it is also obligatory to attach a health certificate, recommendation letter, and passport.

According to the ITS Mechanical Engineering Department lecturer, applicants from Indonesia and their schools using the national curriculum do not need to attach transcripts of report cards, registrants can directly input the value of the specified subjects to the registration website. “Registrants just input the value as requested on the website,” he said.

As for the certificate of English proficiency, registrants generally attach the results of the TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC tests. However, in addition to the three types of certificates, ITS also receives an English proficiency certificate from the Duolingo application because the process to get it is not too time-consuming. “Registrants can also carry out the EFL test organized by the Global Language Center Unit (formerly UPT Language and Culture, ed) ITS or other PTN,” added Unggul.

When registering, prospective students can choose from two available study programs. The joint degree program itself allows students to experience studying at ITS as well as foreign universities that partner with ITS and get two degrees at once.

The IUP program has several advantages when compared to regular classes. In addition to using English in lecture activities, the opportunity for internationalization is also greater. There are at least five choices of international learning experiences offered, namely excursion studies, short/summer courses, internships in international or multinational companies, and joint degrees.

Furthermore, Unggul continued, IUP ITS students have the convenience of participating in various internationalization activities without additional educational costs. “Of course, this depends on the policies of each partner university, but in general students only need to pay back for living costs in the country where they exchange,” he explained.

After completing the form and paying the registration fee, the registrant will get a registration card. Applicants who pass the file selection stage on April 5, 2022 will continue to the interview stage on April 9, 2022. In the upcoming second and third batches of registration, the process is similar. However, in wave III, the report card transcript attachment was replaced with the value of the Computer-Based Writing Test (UTBK) or the value of the ITS Academic Ability Test (TKA).

At the end, Unggul said that although English proficiency is required in IUP lecture activities, the attached language proficiency certificate is not the main reference. “It doesn’t matter if the applicant’s score (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Duolingo, ed) has not reached the specified criteria, because passing or not is also considered through the results of the interview,” he concluded encouragingly.
