ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) will again hold a grand graduation ceremony in the form of the 125th Graduation ceremony on March 26-27, 2022. One of the graduates is Tiaranisa’i Fadhilla from the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD) ITS. She has been named the youngest graduate to successfully hold a bachelor’s degree at 19 years and three months.

The girl, familiarly called Tiara, graduated with a bachelor’s degree at a relatively young age because she started her education earlier. At 3.5, she was enrolled in a Kindergarten (TK) school. At 5.5, she immediately received primary education at SD Sukorame 1 Kediri.

This graduate from Kediri said that when he continued his junior high school (SMP) level, he started tasting the acceleration program offered. She shortened her study time to two years with the 4 Semester Credit System (SKS) program.

Tiara also felt that what she was going through had a faster rhythm than other friends. “Because I took the program, I could not fully explore non-academic activities. Fortunately, I was able to participate in journalism at that time,” said the alumnus of SMPN 4 Kediri, who will graduate on Saturday (26/3) tomorrow.

Armed with experience during junior high school, Tiara did not give up on retaking the acceleration program. At that time, SMA 2 Kediri opened a similar program. From the test results and this hijab girl passed and successfully graduated from high school in 2018. Unlike before, Tiara at that time had time to enjoy her precious time in high school. She can actively participate in the extracurricular she wants because she is one of those who have met the qualifications in the program.

She revealed that the activities were solid if she had time to join the scouts. According to her, we can enjoy it all as long as we can divide our time in a balanced way. “Because even though my golden moment in high school was fast, it doesn’t mean I can’t feel it with other friends. In other ways, academics are still number one,” said the girl born on December 1, 2002.

Her motivation to become an accelerated student at that time came from her sister. Because at that time, his brother followed a similar program and was able to live it well. On the other hand, she wants to lighten the burden and get the support of his parents. From this, she was firmly determined to become the fastest learner in his class.

After graduating from high school, the youngest of three siblings chose Statistics at ITS as the next step in pursuing knowledge. She said that being an actuary was a dream for Tiara in the past because actuary was a needed profession and had a lot of interest.

Seeing this, at that time, the ITS Actuarial Study Program (Prodi) had become the target. However, seeing that the ITS Statistics Department has collaborated with the Indonesian Actuary Association (PAI) and has good accreditation, she finally chose the department. “But as the course progressed, I wasn’t interested in being an actuary anymore.” She laughed lightly.

Being the youngest in her class did not make the daughter of Enik Sukamti and Choirul Anwar feel significant distress. From a theoretical point of view, Tiara gets a lot of support and help from her friends.

In addition to liking arithmetic, she also likes to organize. During 3.5 years of studying at ITS, Tiara said she was pretty satisfied with her contribution to serving in various organizations at ITS. She was even the chairman of the ITS Foreign Language Society (IFLS) 2020/2021 Student Activity Unit (UKM) and the chairman of the ITS 2021/2022 Interest and Talent Institute (LMB).

In addition to working in managerial contributions, her hobby of traveling and studying also contributes to the department. Her gift is shown by being a teaching assistant in Statistical Quality Control (2021) and Statistics Data Mining (2022) courses, as well as participating in the Practical Work (KP) program and internship at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).

“Kemarin di sana (Kemdikbudristek, red) sempat menjadi tim satuan tugas (satgas) penjamin mutu pendidikan dan tim perancangan yang bertugas dalam analisis kebijakan, analisis dampak pandemi terhadap akses pendidikan, dan lain-lain,” terang wisudawan yang telah mendapatkan beasiswa Fresh Graduate S2 dari ITS ini.

From her experience, while working in population social sciences, Tiara took her as the topic of her Final Project (TA) concerning education. Her final project is entitled Analysis of the Relationship of Education Implementation in a Pandemic Period to the Quality of High School (SMA) Education Using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM- PLS).

“My TA discusses the impact of changing the learning process on the quality of education, with the areas of Java and East Indonesia,” explained the part-timer at the ITS Statistics Service Center. The TA, according to Tiara, is looking for factors that affect the quality of education and the differences.

With all the immediate steps he goes through, she still holds on to exploring everything, but she doesn’t need to be an expert. At least in every field, she has friends she can talk to. She advised her younger siblings to build more relationships everywhere and stay consistent in doing the TA, which was quite tiring.

“The tip is that whatever progress is made, let the lecturers know, often for discussions with lecturers; there’s no need to hurry. Everything will come in time,” concluded the student who graduated with a 3.57 Grade Average (GPA). (NA/ITS PR)
