ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is getting serious about becoming a campus for entrepreneurs by supporting various student innovations. This time, through the Startup Demoday event, ITS proved its seriousness in supporting the development of prospective student-made technology-based startups Wednesday (15/6).
The event, which took place in a hybrid manner at the Swiss-Belinn Manyar Hotel, was attended directly by the Vice Chancellor IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and ITS Alumni, Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng Ph.D., Director of Innovation and Science Technology Area (DIKST) ITS Agus Muhammad Hatta Ph.D., Senior Manager of Incubator and Innovative Business Services (ILBI) ITS Baroto Tavip Indrojarwo MSi, ITS Senior Manager of Access to Capital Dr. Machsus MT, and related ITS leadership ranks.
The event brought together innovative startups made by ITS students with potential investors. Eleven selected startups from ILBI ITS will promote various innovative products and services. This event is a series of events from the Prospective Technology-Based Startup Company (CPPBT) program by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek).
In this case, Baroto explained, Demoday is a presentation event for startups to introduce their products and services and bring together startups with potential investors. “This event is usually held at the end of each startup incubation period,” he added.
Baroto further emphasized this Demoday is a golden opportunity for startup founders to introduce their products and meet potential investors. “In this demo day event, it is hoped that there will be business matching between startups and investors, related to access to capital, marketing, and other potential business synergies,” he said.
The three startups from ITS that received funding from CPPBT include SFPS, Tridiku, and Lobstion. Not only that, but opportunities are also open for other startups such as CoFilm, CastForm, Tradeco, Cekka Studio, and Kebon.ID, HOMEi, WeListen, and Manufaktur Energi Nusantara (MEN). “These startups will later present their pitch decks and showcase their prototypes in front of the judges and potential investors,” said Baroto.
SFPS is a startup that produces innovative products in the form of automatic and encrypted intelligent Morse lamps for warships based on image processing. Then, Tridiku, with its innovative product in the form of a 3D Printer, is a supporter of the creative industry. Lobstion (Crustea) with its innovative products in the Internet of Things (IoT) based technology to meet the needs of lobster shrimp farming.
Meanwhile, CoFilm is a startup that creates innovative antivirus coating products as permanent disinfectants. CastForm with its innovative product in the form of a ready-to-use orthopedic cast (cast paper) with a unique folding pattern. Meanwhile, Tradeco, with its innovative product, is an application for international trade transactions that is easy and safe for SMEs and importers.
Furthermore, Cekka Studio is a startup that creates innovative products in the field of craft product design innovation that emphasizes the concept of sustainability. Meanwhile, Kebon.ID with its innovative products in the urban agriculture industry, and HOMEi with innovative products that focus on residential work with a construction management system.
Meanwhile, WeListen is a startup that creates innovative products in the form of applications to become a place for clients experiencing depression to share stories with psychologists and active listeners to reduce depression. Lastly, MEN, with its innovative product in the form of an in-wheel hub motor that will be used as a power train for electric vehicles.
Various entrepreneurs, associations, official agencies, incubator communities, and related industries have been invited to enliven the event. Such as Founder Quarto Group, President Director of Teluk Lamong, President Director of PT Sarana Jatim Ventura, CEO of Cak Eko Group, Sidoarjo Shrimp Pond Entrepreneur, President Director of PDAM Surabaya, East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) East Java, and many more.
Besides Demoday, there was also a talk show entitled Innovative Startup Investment, which recruited big business players as resource persons. Among them, CEO of Cak Eko Group Henky Eko Sriyantono ST MT, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong Faruq Hidayat ST MMT, President Director of PT Sarana Jatim Ventura Tri Agus Darmawan SE, and President Director of PDAM Surabaya Ir Arief Wisnu Cahyono.
