In his speech, ITS Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng explained that this MoU activity, both campus recruitment and scholarship, is an excellent opportunity for ITS students to demonstrate competence in multinational companies such as ZTE. “Not only in terms of technology but also in improving the quality of human resources,” said the rector, familiarly called Ashari.
The goal of this partnership is to improve relationships between industry and universities. ZTE frequently assists ITS in acquiring the most recent equipment held by the sector for usage in university practicum. “So that students will be better aware of the technologies that are being developed in the latest industry,” said the Professor of Electrical Engineering.
It is not the first time ITS has collaborated with ZTE, in 2019 ZTE also provided several scholarships and laboratory equipment for the ITS Electrical Engineering Department. “So holding this MoU is an excellent chance for ITS to continue to be a university that consistently collaborates with ZTE in the future,” he said.
Dennis Yu, the Chief Technology Officer of ZTE Indonesia, concurred with Ashari and said that students nowadays are familiar with this technology through textbooks and recently manufactured and actively utilized equipment in Indonesia. This collaboration, which benefits the fields of research and information technology greatly, is always welcomed by ZTE.
Dennis also revealed, ZTE places great emphasis on research and development for technological innovation. With 15 Research and Development (R&D) centers worldwide, ZTE annually allocates at least 10 percent of its annual revenue for research and development (R&D).
In harmony ITS, ZTE is also committed to continuing to provide innovations in developing integrated telecommunications and technology. The contribution from ZTE will help equip ITS students with high knowledge and skills in the field of communication technology. “Education is one of the most important components of a nation,” he stressed.
Thus, Dennis hopes to gather vital and competitive talent to welcome the upcoming 5G era. It was also noted that more than 60 percent of ZTE Indonesia’s employees come from local students. “With that, I am waiting for young talents from ITS to join us in the future,” he said. (ITS PR)
