ITS Campus, ITS News – Big data technology is required as a solution for large-scale data processing in this digital era. To resolve these issues, PT Solusi Bisnis Adiguna and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, July 9, at the ITS Rectorate Building.
This MoU was signed directly by ITS Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng with the Director of PT Solusi Bisnis Adiguna Eko Satrio. This collaboration aims to optimize data processing for all activities of the ITS academic community, from research to community service.
In his speech, Eko revealed that big data technology is a useful tool for searching, collecting, and processing large-scale data in a relatively short time. Due to the system’s complexity, ITS has yet to incorporate this technology in its academic activities. As a result, he explained, “there are frequently challenges because data processing at ITS tends to be manual.”
At ITS, the application of big data technology later facilitated researchers and lectures. Eko explained that big data could be applied to creating research journals, which companies can use for research at universities. “It can also be used to serve the community,” he said.
Furthermore, according to Eko, this technology can also be a forum for students to improve their work professionally. If students are skilled in data processing using big data, it can make it easier to find a job. Additionally, by helping them market their services or goods for commerce, this technology can help students become self-employed.
Meanwhile, the ITS Chancellor, familiarly called Ashari, also expressed his hope that this MoU will help improve the quality of research for lecturers so that ITS can compete with the best universities in the world. Knowledge about big data technology can also increase students’ chances of being accepted for work. “That way, ITS can contribute to advancing the Indonesian people and nation,” said Ashari optimistically.
