ITS Campus News – The rapid advancement of technology has created various kinds of digitization, which cannot be separated from books. Therefore, to keep up with world technology developments, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) collaborates with a Korean software development company, Arasoft, to develop and publish e-books and receive a grant of 40 Namo Author application licenses.
The Head of Development Studies Department ITS, Dr. Arfan Fahmi, S.S., M.Pd., explained that Arasoft is a professional software development company that develops and provides solutions for the development of multimedia content and e-learning content, such as eBook maker tools (Namo Author), e-book viewer (Namo Reader), and a content service platform (Arabook platform).
By having this collaboration, Arfan said that Development Studies Department ITS hosted a training on the use of Namo Author e-book application. In this application, the authors are able to create more dynamic and interesting e-books by adding video and sound that will support the reader’s experience. “It is good to be able to work and share knowledge with friends from Arasoft directly,” said Arfan.
This training has been held since 5th September for five days. This training can be attended by general participants for free. Arfan conveyed that five days training, taught directly by Arasoft trainers, was attended by various participants from students, lecturers, education staff, to official employees from East Java Province.
In this training, the participants were introduced and taught how to use the features available on Namo Author application. Until the end of the training, the participants presented their e-book works by combining the available features. “The participants’ e-books were presented in front of Arasoft’s top officials and trainers as the results of their learning progress for five days,” Arfan explained.
There was also the representative from Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra) as a bridge between ITS and Arasoft. Furthermore, 40 licenses for Namo Author application will be given symbolically from Arasoft Kotra to ITS on September 14 at East Java Investment Week event. In addition, Kotra will also present in organizing the Group of Twenty (G20), which will be held in Bali to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia Government.
At the end, Arfan expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and granted 40 licenses for Namo Author application. He expectes that the e-publishing from Namo Author itself can reduce the use of paper on conventional book printing. It can also reduce paper waste circulating in our environment. “There are so many benefits that we can receive; hopefully, we can complitely use the application,” said Arfan. (ITS PR)
