ITS Campus News – continues to strive to improve quality in all fields, especially in the field of internationalization. This is evidenced by the acceptance of 1793 international students from various countries. This number made ITS rank first in applying for study permits for foreign students according to Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI).
The Director of Global Engagement (DKG) ITS, Assoc Prof. Maria Anityasari ST MEng PhD, said that this achievement was successfully released by DIKTI while attending a study permit application meeting and reporting foreign students to DIKTI. In general, this information is usually released towards the end of the year. “The submission by DIKTI at this time may still be temporary. Because 2022 is still not over,” he said.
Unlike last year, DKG ITS has now properly conceptualized directmobility. Through apprenticeship programs, student exchanges, and short courses, DKG ITS has succeeded in receiving a surge in the number of foreign students interested in visiting ITS offline. “Since 2020, we have been trying to organize interesting virtual mobility so that internationalization activities at ITS are still alive even during a pandemic,” said Maria.
According to Maria, this year, ITS often accepts foreign students who take part in short-term programs from Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan. In addition to short-term programs, this year ITS has succeeded in accepting international student exchanges, the majority of which come from Europe. Starting from students from France, Finland, Denmark, and various other countries.
The lecturer of System and Industrial Engineering Department ITS explained, the increase in foreign students studying at ITS was achieved with new innovations. Where these innovations were successfully adapted to the target market that DKG wanted. For example, DKG ITS succeeded in giving birth to a new program entitled CommTech Nusantara, where this program invites foreign students to learn harmonization in the diversity that exists in Indonesia.
Therefore, with this announcement, Maria hopes that DKG ITS and all ITS academics will continue to have strong synergy in advancing ITS to the top 500 in the world. “Our struggle is still far away. However, this achievement is proof that ITS has a flame of enthusiasm that never goes out,” he concluded. (ITS PR)
