ITS Campus- ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is well known for its excellence in the field of robotics. Based on this, the Directorate General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Information Technology (SDPPI)from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) RI collaborates with ITS to work on a collaborative project for making robots to assist public services at the Directorate General of SDPPI.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) which was held at ITS Rectorate Building on Thursday (17/11). The Director of Operations Resources of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Dr Dwi Handoko MEng, explained that the basic for the offer of this cooperation started with his party receiving directions to hold a technology showcase that reflects the identity of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo). The selected technology showcase is in the form of a service robot. “Because we are engaged in public service for licensing of radio frequency spectrum,” he said.
Furthermore, Dwi stated that the selection of ITS as the service robot developer at the Directorate General of SDPPI was indeed based on the strong image of ITS in the field of robotics. This is also in accordance with directives from the government to increase the Domestic Component Level (TKDN). “Why do you have to buy foreign products when there are Indonesian children who are competent and tested in the field of robotics,” he joked.
On the other hand, the technology showcase that is being launched by the Directorate General of SDPPI is one of the steps to focus on downstream technology, namely increasing the utilization of existing technology through various developments. “In this case, we see the potential for ITS RAISA robot prototype (in collaboration with RSUA, ed) to be developed into other types of robots. Of course, with more or less the same basis,” he explained.
Responding to this, The Vice Rector IV ITS, Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD, welcomed the offer of collaboration with open arms. He said that ITS would be ready to develop service robots according to existing needs.
In addition to signing the Cooperation Agreement (PKS), Bambang plans to invite the staff from the Directorate General of SDPPI to visit ITS Robotics Building to review what robot technology ITS has on Friday (18/11) tomorrow. “Maybe there is a suitable prototype, we will develop it further later,” he said excitedly
At the end, the lecturer from Mechanical Engineering Department ITS also expressed his gratitude for the trust given by the Directorate General of SDPPI to work with ITS. He Expects that this collaboration will not stop at making robots, but also in other fields. “Especially in the field of technology and radio frequency spectrum licensing,” he concluded.
