ITS Campus News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues supporting Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus (MBKM) program and the creation and distribution of innovative products. This is evidenced by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ITS and PT. Meratus Line to continue their collaboration on Thursday (20/10).
Located in Rapat Pimpinan (Rapim) Meeting Room of ITS Rectorate Building, The Vice Rector IV ITS, Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D. signed the MoU together with The Main Director of PT. Meratus Line, Slamet Raharjo. The process of signing was also witnessed by The Dean of The Faculty of Marine Technology (FTK) ITS, Dr.Eng. Trika Pitana, S.T., M.Sc., and The Human Resources Manager of PT. Meratus Line, Johannita Ratnaningtyas Pramadi and other leaders.
In his remarks, Bambang said that ITS aspires to become a technopreneur university in 2035. This means that part of the funding from ITS operations comes from selling innovative products. “To make it happen, as an educational institution, we have to cooperate with industries such as PT Meratus Line for the distribution of research and innovation products,” he continued.
This cooperation is not the first time established. Slamet Raharjo revealed that PT. Meratus Line is currently collaborating with ITS to evaluate ship fuel consumption. Even though the company has a similar evaluation, Meratus trusts institutions like ITS to be able to develop a better and more comprehensive evaluation system.
There are also other collaborations with ITS related to ship storage planning applications. Slamet explained that this cooperation was very beneficial for his party because so far it had been difficult to weigh containers for domestic ships. “We are very grateful for the research and innovation because it helps us also to grow and develop,” he said.
Not limited to the realm of research and innovation, this collaboration was also expanded to cover the MBKM area, especially the apprenticeship program. The Head of Marine Engineering Department ITS, Beny Cahyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., explained that many students from FTK had taken part in apprenticeship and practical work programs in PT. Meratus Line, so that in the future it would be carried out more intensely.
Besides students, lecturers are also planned to be able to take part in internships at PT. Meratus Line. Responding to this idea, Johannita Ratnaningtyas Pramadi from PT. Meratus Line welcomed it. “In our company, there are also internship lecturers from other universities,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Bambang added that PT. Meratus Line could also send its employees to study in ITS in terms of staff capacity building. In this regard, ITS provides a curriculum especially for master programs that can be customized according to industry needs, so that it can really solve the company’s problems. “Later on, we can accommodate special classes whose students are only from PT. Meratus Line,” said the lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Department ITS promisingly. (ITS PR)
