Improving Service Quality, ITS Improves Public Service Standards

ITS Campus News – Integrated Service Center (ISC) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to make efforts in improving the preparation of public service standards to facilitate stakeholders in obtaining services. For this reason, ISC ITS held a discussion regarding the responsiveness of Integrated Service Center (ISC) ITS as a Public Service on Public Consultation Forum activity at ITS Rectorate Building, Wednesday (26/10).

Committed to providing the best service that is accountable, transparent, and certain, ISC ITS is now compiling service standards that are more concise with a one-stop system. Applicants only need to apply for services through PLT ITS without the need to be in contact with other parties. “The service proposals will later be distributed by ISC to the authorized sectors,” explained The Head of The General Bureau and Bureaucratic Reform (BURB) ITS, Drs.Ec. Murtriyono, M.Si.

However, this one-door service needs to be improved in the preparation of better standards, especially in the standard for public information requests. Imadoeddin, S.Sos., M,Si., The Chairman of Public Information Commission of The East Java Provincial said that there are several important requirements that must be considered in standard requests for public information.

The first is the fulfillment of a complete and valid identity of the applicant. “Without a valid identity, a public agency will not fulfill the applicant’s request,” he explained. Furthermore, Imadoeddin said that the applicant is also required to include a clear goal in obtaining the desired information or service.

According to him, the purpose of the applicant is the most crucial and important thing to be reconsidered by public agencies. “If the applicant cannot explain with clear objectives, then the public body is not allowed to provide the desired information service,” he warned.

In his presentation, Imadoeddin added that public bodies are also allowed to obtain information or service assistance from third parties or other agencies through official assistance. If later there is a rejection of the application, the public body is required to inform the rejection in writing. “Verbal information is not allowed,” he said.

Besides, the applicant also has the right to provide aspirations or responses on the performance of a public body. “Public agencies are required to provide special media for applicants to convey their criticism and suggestions for these public agencies performance,” he concluded. (ITS PR)
