ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) always supports its students to escalate their abilities and knowledge. Through the Internship+ program in collaboration with Coventry University, ITS Business Management Department students have the opportunity to participate in internship programs at several large companies in England.

Three students from the ITS Business Management Department participated in this internship. The three of them were able to experience working for several renowned companies in England due to this cooperation program. Those are Usama Azmil Fathany at Unipart-Jaguar Land Rover, Mohammad Rosyidan Narendra at Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics, and Alodia Shakira Putri at the Malone Group.

Alodia and her team formulated a strategy and made relevant suggestions to address the application’s needs. Her team also helped devise a pricing strategy for the company. In developing its strategy, her team collaborated on two techniques. “We combine bundle pricing and charm pricing techniques,” explained the girl born in Surabaya.

Unlike Alodia, who is involved in business strategy, Mohammad Rosyidan Narendra, who is familiarly called Nendra, is working on several projects related to analyzing and visualizing data at the Mercedes-Benz warehouse. Nendra also explained some of the data he worked on, including Turnover Rate, Inbound, Stock, VOR/EME, Outbound, Total Outbound, Delivery, and Cross Docking.

The data needs to be collected and visualized correctly. The aim is for the management of Mercedes-Benz to obtain an overview of their warehouse’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to make strategic decisions to advance the business. “I try to find innovations to increase effectiveness and efficiency in data collection,” said Nendra.

Nendra uses Power Business Intelligence (Power BI) software to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of data collection. According to Nendra, using Power BI in the business world can save time in analyzing large volumes of warehouse data.

In this project, Nendra contributed to determining the most appropriate form of data analysis and visualization for each Mercedes-Benz division. Nendra gave an example of the inbound and outbound divisions requiring data on spare parts’ entry and exit. “There is also a Main Office that requires all the data for each division,” he added.

Meanwhile, Usama Azmil Fathany, who is familiarly called Fathan, has contributed in a different field from his two colleagues. The Ponorogo-born student joined the Sustainability Team at Unipart-Jaguar Land Rover. “There, my team plays a role in developing a sustainable packaging system,” he said.

Furthermore, Fathan said that developing a sustainable packaging system at Unipart is challenging, and this is due to Unipart’s sustainability situation, which has reached 97 percent. “My team and I started by identifying problems and formulating solutions in ongoing business operations at Unipart,” he explained.

Following that, he and his group went to a Unipart warehouse. During the visit, they looked at current business operations and decided what variables could be created. “After extensive research, we ultimately recommended Unipart switch to paper tape for their business operations. Additionally, we advise them to implement a business strategy, “explained Fathan.

The three of them stated that they were very grateful for the experiences and achievements they had spent for approximately one semester in England. They appreciate Prof Benny Tjahjono as their supervisor lecturer from Coventry University, UK and Head of the ITS Business Management Department Dr oec HSG Syarifa Hanoum ST MT. (ITS PR)
