Campus ITS – ITS News, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) opens a new page in 2023 by obtaining international accreditation from The Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN). This is evidence of improving the quality and quality of education at ITS, which has met global standards with the accreditation of several study programs (Prodi) both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
ASIIN is an international-scale accreditation institution that is credible and recognized by the Indonesian government through the Republic of Indonesia’s Minister of Education and Culture Number 83/P/2020. This accreditation institution from Germany targets the disciplines of engineering, mathematics and science, agriculture, and biology, which can cover most of the science clusters at ITS. It is noted that this accreditation agency already has experience assessing thousands of study programs on an international scale.
Several study programs at ITS that have been successfully accredited are S1 and S2 Mathematics, S1 and S2 Statistics, S1 and S2 Electrical Engineering, S1 Biomedical Engineering, and S1 Computer Engineering, with fully certified achievements until 2027—followed by postgraduate study programs for Masters in Physics Engineering, Masters in Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, as well as Masters in Geomatics Engineering which also obtained ASIIN accreditation with full accreditation until 2028. Ten study programs have been previously accredited until 2023.
The Head of the ITS Quality Assurance Office (KPM), Prof. Dr. Aulia Siti Aisjah, explained that there were several stages that ITS needed to pass to fulfill the prerequisites for ASIIN accreditation. The first stage is in the form of contract approval by ITS with an accreditation agency, accompanied by several things that need to be included. Campuses wishing to be accredited to demonstrate an evaluation of the achievement of program outcomes and ongoing curricula as well as institutions demonstrating their commitment to facilitating the implementation of Outcome Based Education (OBE).
Furthermore, Aulia explained that after the contract was agreed upon, ITS needed to prepare a Self-Assessment Report (SAR) document. It doesn’t stop here. The facts on the ground also need to be shown as evidence from the documents that have been uploaded. It starts from the physical condition of the classrooms, facilities, and campus environment to the policies that apply at ITS, which are of concern in the ASIIN accreditation process.
The achievements of the various study programs above are inseparable from the preparation and experience of ITS in preparing study programs to participate in international accreditation. The participating study programs also have a track record through various other international accreditations and certifications. “This achievement is the fruit of collaboration from institutes, faculties, and study programs in preparing everything needed,” added the ITS Physics Engineering professor.
Aulia also revealed that the achievement of ASIIN accreditation by several ITS study programs shows that the quality of education and teaching has been recognized internationally. “This acknowledgment encourages ITS graduates to be accepted by the global job market and to become a forum for increasing the trust of the international community,” he said optimistically.
