Announcement of the top 10 active national LP3H assistants along with the distribution of quotas per LP3H in 2023 by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH)

ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again won a proud achievement at the national level. This time the ITS Center for Halal Studies (PKH) is the only state university (PTN) under the auspices of the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) which ranks in the top 10 active assistants for Halal Product Process Assistance Institutions (LP3H) National.

Deputy Chairperson of PKH ITS Nur Aini Rakhmawati SKom MScEng PhD said, this rating was obtained by PKH ITS with 132 active halal companions who had a percentage of 2.40 percent of the total top 10 active companions. With the rating from the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), PKH ITS gets 24 thousand special quotas for halal certification for 2023. “With this quota, we get funding from the Ministry of Religion according to the quota given,” he explained.

Furthermore, the lecturer who is familiarly called Aini revealed, this ranking was obtained by ITS for the cooperation of lecturers and students who are members of 18 Halal Certification Community Service Community Service (KKN Abmas) teams. They are given training to become assistants for halal certification. Through this training, the lecturers and students are given knowledge about the halal product certification process to help the community.

After receiving the training, the KKN Abmas teams were given the task of assisting MSMEs in obtaining halal certification directly as a graduation requirement. During the process, PKH ITS continues to assist through monitoring by lecturers and the data validation process by PKH. Aini said, they not only train, but also carry out coaching in stages.

204 Sertifikat Halal

Even though I just joined as LP3H in August 2022, continued Aini, PKH ITS has succeeded in helping issue 204 halal certificates for MSMEs in four months. Not only MSMEs in Surabaya, but also spread to Kediri, Pamekasan, to Pasuruan. “We are participating in developing the Kediri Halal Area, Salt Tourism Edu Area, to date tourism,” he continued proudly.

Even though they had experienced problems due to the fact that many MSMEs were not very literate in technology and the application for halal certification was returned, the assistants were able to overcome this problem well. Unfortunately, there are still long queues for the fatwa commission so that the halal certificates are only obtained after two or three months of processing.

This ITS Informatics Engineering alumnus hopes that PKH ITS can meet the existing quota targets through various programs that will be launched soon, one of which is the Halal Thousand UMKM Movement. In addition, this lecturer who was born in 1982 hopes that many students will join PKH ITS to become companions for halal certification. Finally, Aini hopes that there will be a policy from BPJPH so that the lines for the fatwa commission are not too long. “So that the halal certification process can be faster,” he said hopefully.
