ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to be determined to apply technology in environmentally friendly energy. This is proven through the collaboration that ITS has carried out with PT Panasonic Gobel Life Solutions Manufacturing to install and develop public street lighting (PJU) in the ITS campus area that uses light-emitting diode (LED) lamps.

Through their visit to the ITS campus Monday (20/2), the PT Panasonic Gobel Life Solutions Manufacturing group intends to convey progress and directly review the process of installing PJU lights in the ITS campus area.

“This is done by ITS and Panasonic as an effort to save energy to be able to reduce power usage and reduce electricity expenses,” explained the Director of Innovation and Technology Science Area (DIKST) ITS Agus Muhammad Hatta ST MSi Ph.D.

LED Smart System

According to the lecturer, who is usually called Hatta, for the installation of the PJU, a change was made from conventional lamps to LED lamps. The lecturer at the Engineering Physics Department explained that later the LED lights would be equipped with an intelligent system, namely a monitoring system, to monitor the condition of the lights directly. “Together with Panasonic, we want this LED lamp to have a smart system feature,” he said.

In line with Hatta, Director of PT Panasonic Gobel Life Solutions Manufacturing Indonesia, Lukman Widarmanto revealed that this feature is needed to provide actual data related to lamp energy use.

Through this system, you will be able to find out the power required and the costs incurred for this PJU. “Hopefully, we can reduce expenses for PJU,” said Lukman.

Hatta also revealed that the installation of PJU with LED lights has been carried out by ITS since 2022, but only in the ITS Alumni Park area. Even though it is being carried out in stages, the replacement of PJU with LED lights throughout the ITS campus area is targeted to be completed this year.

“Hopefully, replacing conventional PJU with LED lights will be able to contribute to saving energy on a campus scale,” he concluded.

The meeting held in the ITS Rectorate Building Meeting Room was also attended by Deputy Chancellor IV Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng Ph.D., who oversees the fields of research, innovation, collaboration, and ITS alums.
