ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is again one of the centers for administering the Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) for Test-Based National Selection (SNBT) at the 2023 new student admissions. Ensuring its implementation, Vice Chancellor I for Academic and Student Affairs ITS Prof. Dr. Ir Adi Soeprijanto MT visited several UTBK rooms on the ITS campus on the first day, Monday (8/5).
Adi explained that 8,688 UTBK-SNBT 2023 participants had chosen a test center at ITS. To meet the number of participants, the test was divided into two waves for five days and two sessions daily. “The implementation of the first batch at ITS starts May 8-10, while the second batch will be held on May 22 and 23,” explained the ITS Electrical Engineering Department professor.
Reviewing several rooms from the 18 UTBK work points spread across 16 departments at ITS, Adi revealed that there were no technical problems felt during the first session on the first day. This is also supported by the preparation of UTBK infrastructure, which ITS has been doing for a long time. “Trials and checks on the internet network and servers have been carried out months before to ensure the smooth running of this test,” he said.
In addition, he continued, to anticipate cheating during the test, metal detectors were also installed to prevent the use of communication devices. Also, there are supervisors in each room to ensure the work runs without fraud. “Supervisors ensure that each participant does not carry any luggage and uses the stationery provided,” he added.
Adi continued as many as 20,001 UTBK participants had registered to continue their studies at ITS. This number shows an increase compared to 2022 SBMPTN applicants at ITS, with 19,778 participants. This year, ITS opens opportunities for applicants to choose from 38 undergraduate-level departments and eight vocational departments at ITS.
Later, apart from the SNBT, which will be announced on June 20, the UTBK results can still be used to register for the Partnership Selection and Independent Selection held by ITS. This selection will also use the written test scores from the ITS Entrance Selection (SMITS) and several other provisions as stated on its.ac.id/admission page. (ITS Public Relations)
