ITS Campus, ITS News – After undergoing various stages of selection for new students through different pathways, the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) officially confirms the enrollment of 6,188 new students, both at the bachelor’s (S1) and applied bachelor’s (D4) levels. The official confirmation event was held in-person at the ITS Stadium on Monday (7/8) morning.
Wearing white tops and black bottoms, all maba appeared enthusiastic as they stepped into the ITS Stadium. Despite the event starting at 7:00 AM, the maba wore joyful and proud expressions, participating in the activities presented. The event was also attended by the high-level leadership of ITS.
To enhance the atmosphere and instill a sense of pride in each maba, the hosts continued to announce the names of ITS faculties, which were met with applause and cheers of enthusiasm from the maba. Not only that, various talented Student Activity Units (UKM) of ITS were also presented. These included the ITS Student Choir, ITS Archery, and Setia Hati Teratai Pencak Silat (PSHT)
To inspire the maba, Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim BA MBA, joined virtually to deliver a speech. In his address, Nadiem emphasized that being a student means being someone with high creativity and being at the forefront of Indonesia’s progress. “Through the Free Learning for Independent Campus (MBKM) program, students will have the means to achieve their aspirations,” he motivated.
Next, Prof. Dr. Ir. KH Mohammad Nuh DEA, the Chair of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of ITS, stated that becoming an ITS student is a blessing from the Almighty, as not all prospective students have the opportunity to be accepted at ITS. He also emphasized that being an ITS student comes with significant responsibility, that of becoming a true learner. “True learners are needed by all students because the challenges ahead will only become more complex,” he reminded.
Not only the Chair of MWA, but also Prof. Dr. Syafsir Akhlus MSc, the Chair of the ITS Academic Senate, reassured the maba and their parents watching the live broadcast on the ITS TV channel. “ITS is ready to provide a high-quality and comprehensive learning environment,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, in his address, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng, the ITS Rector, mentioned that ITS successfully fosters a diverse environment, where students from 33 provinces across Indonesia are accepted. Data presented shows that aside from East Java, the majority of maba come from West Java, DKI Jakarta, Banten, and various other regions.
Hearing the enthusiastic calls and addresses from the entire ITS academic community, Ashari hoped that all 2023 maba can collaborate to enhance the positive image of the Hero Campus. He also encouraged the entire ITS academic community to guide all maba, enabling them to become outstanding individuals supporting Indonesia’s Golden Generation by 2045. “We welcome you to ITS and await your significant contributions,” he concluded, motivating the audience.
