Kampus ITS, ITS News – To strengthen excellence in research, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to strive to increase the number of professors or professors. To fulfill its total of 162 professors, ITS again confirmed five new professors from various disciplines in the Auditorium of the ITS Research Center Building, Thursday (20/7).
The inauguration procession was started by Prof. Daniel Oranova Siahaan SKom MSc PDEng as the 158th ITS professor who was confirmed in the field of analytical science. This Palembang-born lecturer delivered his scientific oration entitled Techniques, Challenges, and Opportunities in Software Engineering Artifact Analysis. “This research develops a method for extracting user stories from software in the form of news in online media,” said the ITS Informatics Engineering Department lecturer.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Eng Ir Ahmad Rusdiansyah MEng from the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering delivered his scientific oration on Logistics Transportation and Distribution: Model Development, Algorithms, and Computer Applications. “Research in the logistics sector needs to be carried out downstream to produce innovative products in the world of business and industry,” the 159th ITS professor explained.
Through his research, the professor of logistics transportation and distribution, who is familiarly called Doddy, developed an algorithm to solve challenges in the logistics sector. Then a computer application design is formed and adapted to the algorithm used.

Her research is a form of advancing the ability of Artificial Intelligent (AI) information analysis to work better with deepening computer vision. “With the development of computer vision, it can produce AI that is more accurate in its work,” explained the Department of Informatics Engineering professor.
In this inauguration, Prof. Subchan SSi MSc PhD’s scientific oration from the Mathematics Department entitled Navigation Guidance and Control on the Nir Crew System was the last inauguration oration. The 162nd ITS professor innovates regarding using drones to identify dangers in an area. “With this system, it is hoped that it will increase energy efficiency and facilitate communication and coordination,” said the man born in Jombang.
In his remarks on this occasion, ITS Chancellor, Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng said that the number of professors at ITS will continue to grow and be more productive in producing scientific publications. “With the increase in the number of professors, there will also be an increase in the driving force that will advance ITS in the future,” said Ashari optimistically.
He added that based on data from the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the distribution of the highest number of professors in Indonesia is in East Java Province. One is at ITS, which has the highest productivity value of 1.3 percent. “Even though ITS has the smallest number of researchers, the number of scientific publications exceeds the number of lecturers and researchers,” said Ashari proudly.
On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the ITS Professors Council Prof Dr Ir Imam Robandi MT as the organizer of the inauguration, hopes that an increase in work productivity will also accompany the number of professors at ITS.
