ITS Achieves International Recognition in Global Collaboration

The Going Global Project (GGP) team conducts a field project implementation in the Blue Energy for Blue Economy program in Malang.

ITS Campus, ITS News – Continuing its streak of achievements, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has recently been honored with the Pioneering Education Award for Global Programme in the Global Teaching Team of The Year 2023 category. The prestigious award was presented by Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom, on June 16th, regarding ITS’ dedication to global collaboration in the field of blue energy.

Faiqoh Agustin ST, the Junior Manager for New Program Initiatives at the Directorate of Global Engagement (DKG) ITS, stated that this award is a testament to ITS’s innovation, excellence, and collaboration in the successful implementation of the Blue Energy for Blue Economy program. “ITS is recognized for creating a curriculum based on blue energy challenges, encompassing marine science and global economic literacy for this program,” she explained.

Dr. Claudia Aravena, the representative of the collaboration project team from Heriot-Watt University, receives the Pioneering Education Award for Global Programme.

Meanwhile, Emharis Gigih Pratama MA, the Co-Person in Charge of the Blue Energy for Blue Economy Program at ITS, explained that the program, which has been running since 2021, is a collaboration between ITS, Heriot-Watt University, Aquatera Ltd, and the Indonesian Blue Energy Consortium (IBEC). The activities carried out during the program range from virtual programs to field projects in Tulungagung and Malang, East Java. “We have also developed the Blue Energy Roadmap for the Blue Economy in Indonesia,” he added.

Based on their unwavering dedication, Haris believes that ITS and Heriot-Watt University have set a new standard for global education, fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment that embraces cultural exchange and collaboration. He emphasized that this steadfast commitment, combined with inter-university capabilities, will bring broader and sustainable changes.

Finally, one of the staff members at DKG ITS himself looks forward that this collaboration will continue and make significant contributions to the implementation of environmentally-friendly energy based on maritime resources. He also looks forward that this award will serve as stronger motivation for ITS to continue its dedication and gain further global recognition. “Ultimately, ITS aims to continue being beneficial for society and the world’s civilization on a larger scale,” he concluded optimistically.
