ITS Campus, ITS News – One of the new students from the Department of Informatics Engineering at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is the top scorer of the Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK) in Indonesia’s National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) for the year 2023. His name is Amadeo Yesa, who managed to achieve an average score of 827.94 in the nationwide public university entrance exam.

Born in Surabaya on July 25, 2005, he expressed his surprise at achieving such a remarkable score. For Deo, as he is affectionately known, many factors contributed to his success, including the prayers and support from his parents as well as his teachers during high school.

Regarding his preparation for the SNBT test this year, Deo mentioned that he didn’t have a specific strategy. He simply made studying a daily routine. Furthermore, as an alumnus of SMA Katolik Rajawali Makassar, he admitted to practicing a lot of problems. “I prefer to study a little bit consistently rather than cramming a lot of material at once,” Deo explained.

When discussing the substance of the UTBK test, which was different from previous years, the bespectacled young man stated that he didn’t encounter any difficulties. Among the various test sections, Deo excelled in the Mathematical Reasoning category, achieving a score of 952.23. “Fortunately, I’ve always enjoyed mathematics since I was young,” shared the son of Dr. Piters Djajakustio SH MH and Dr. Werdiningsih SH MKn MH.

Asked about his reasons for choosing the Hero Campus as the place to pursue his dreams, the 18-year-old youth revealed that he had no specific reasons. For him, ITS had been his dream campus since childhood. He also believed that the ITS Department of Informatics Engineering is the best in Indonesia. “Even when I was struggling to decide on a major, I was firm in choosing ITS as my destination, regardless of the specific field,” Deo asserted.

Like a piece of a puzzle fitting into place, the journey of this silver medalist in the National Science Olympiad (OSN) for Chemistry has finally found its way. Despite initially failing to enter the ITS Department of Informatics Engineering through the National Selection Based on Achievements (SNBP), Deo’s determination wasn’t shaken to reach his desired major and campus. “Between these two pathways, I firmly placed this major as my first and only choice,” Deo shared impressively.

When asked about his aspirations for the future, the youngest of two siblings explained that he hopes to smoothly navigate his studies. “I also want to continue developing my interests and abilities by participating in various competitions and Olympiads in the future,” Deo concluded with hope.
