Kampus ITS, ITS NewsInstitut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to demonstrate its commitment to the environment. In celebration of its 63rd anniversary, ITS organized the ITS Climate Action (ICA) event on Saturday (8/12).

Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Ashari, MEng, IPU, AEng, the Rector of ITS, explained that this event signifies ITS’s concern for climate change. “Everyone must understand the world’s current need to contribute against climate change,” stated the man affectionately referred to as Ashari.

He further emphasized that ITS’s environmental concern goes beyond ICA. The institute contributes to research that aims to combat climate change, such as the study and development of emission-free electric vehicles.

Dr. I Ketut Eddy Purnama, ST, MT, the Chairman of the 63rd ITS Anniversary Committee, explained that tree planting endeavors aim to reduce carbon footprints and counteract climate change. This activity is anticipated to foster a cleaner ITS environment and a more conducive atmosphere for learning. “Over 60 trees were planted as part of the collaboration between ITS, Grab Indonesia, and Virama Karya,” he shared.

This tree planting initiative was initiated by ITS Smart Eco Campus and serves as a significant part of the pre-event activities leading up to the ITS Anniversary, encompassing the broader initiative of ITS Climate Action.

The cycling and walking events encourage community members to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from motorized vehicles.
