ITS Campus, ITS News — Students from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) succeeded in creating an integrated smart city system. This system is designed to create safe transportation, utilize waste into energy, and improve the quality of education in order to optimize government performance in modern city governance.
The team leader of PowerBuffGirl!, Annisa Rahmapuri, explained that this innovation comes from the concern about city growth which has an impact on transportation, environmental, and educational problems. “We are committed to address these issues through sustainable solutions,” she said.
The team initiated by Annisa Rahmapuri, Keisya Nabila Zahra, and Jacinta Syilloam, developed this solution in an application system called EvolveGo as a comprehensive solution. This application has various superior features covering various aspects of smart cities. One of the main features is TransGo! which provides real-time public transportation information about seat availability, best travel routes, and even schedule change notifications.
Besides, in terms of transportation, SecureGo! also focuses on public transportation safety. This feature allows users to report unwanted incidents and provide evidence via closed circuit television (CCTV) with the hope and target of the government to increase the sense of security for users.
Moving on to environmental solutions, there is WasteGo! as a feature to help increase environmental awareness. This feature allows people to recycle waste and get rewards in the form of renewable energy which will be processed further later. “For example, there is reciprocity in the form of biodiesel, biogas, and electricity.” she said.
Morover, EvolveGo also has WalletGo! which facilitates cashless payments for various city services for more practical use by the public. Lastly, EduGo! becomes a complementary feature that optimizes school index assessments to increase accuracy in the new student admission system.
“Applying this system, the government can overcome inaccuracies in the education system,” the third year student of the Department of Information Technology continued.
This application system has also been adapted to create sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life and governance of modern cities, especially in the city of Surabaya. By implementing five of the six Smart City pillars, ITS PowerBuffGirl! creates a positive change in responding to the challenges of sustainable cities.
The innovation team guided by Irzal Ahmad Sabilla SKom MKom received various positive responses from the Surabaya City government. Especially the EduGo! which received a special appreciation from the Head of UPT TIKP East Java Provincial Education Service who also serves as Chief Executive of PPDB East Java 2023. As a follow-up, this system will be the main agenda of the PPDB East Java meeting in 2024.
The innovation entitled Smart City System for Integrated Safe Transportation, Waste-to-Energy Reward System, and Optimizing School Index Assessments to Improve Smart Government Performance succeeded in leading the team to win a gold medal in the 2023 Gemastik XVI event, especially in the Smart City category. “The hope is that EvolveGo can become a One App Solution (OSS) for all government services,” Annisa concluded hopefully.
