ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Nogogeni Team is ready to enter the prestigious stage of the 2023 Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE). This time, the proud ITS team introduced to the public their two newest car innovations, namely the Nogogeni VI and Nogogeni VIII Evo in the hall of the ITS Rectorate Building, on Friday (6/10).
ITS Deputy Chancellor for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni, Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng Ph.D. expressed his gratitude to the Nogogeni team for making ITS a source of pride through innovation and achievements that have been achieved since 2013 at the KMHE event.
Bambang also advised the Nogogeni team to continue to uphold the spirit of excellence and bring home honor and glory for ITS again in this prestigious event in the realm of energy saving. “The enthusiasm and dedication of this large ITS team is a hope for ITS to continue to shine in the wider academic competition arena,” he said.
Head of the Creative Media Division of the ITS Nogogeni team, Jihadul Akbar Fisabilillah, revealed that the competition organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) will take place from 28 October to 3 November 2023 at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC). The ITS Nogogeni Team will participate in two competition classes which are included in the urban category.
In the first class is the urban electric motorbike class, where they will compete with the Nogogeni VIII Evo. Meanwhile, the second class is the urban class for ethanol internal combustion engines, with the Nogogeni VI car as the representative. The participation of the ITS Nogogeni team proves their commitment to providing their best performance and achieving brilliant achievements for the institution.
The ITS Regional and City Planning (PWK) student explained that this research team has been preparing these two cars since January 2023. Various developments have been made based on evaluations of previous cars to achieve even better efficiency. “There are lots of best efforts and innovations to be ready to compete in JIEC later,” he said.
Furthermore, the innovation development carried out on the Nogogeni VIII Evo lies in a control system that is more optimized so that it is better at every revolution of the motorbike. Apart from that, this car also has a driving system equipped with a clutch which allows the car to cut power from the motor to the wheels directly. “The weight of the car is the lightest among the other contestants, only 149 kilograms including the driver,” added Jihad, his nickname.
Not to be left behind, the ITS Nogogeni team has also made extraordinary innovative contributions to Nogogeni VI. The vehicle received several significant improvements in terms of engine and transmission optimization. The engine power of this vehicle has been optimized through the application of a sophisticated injection system, and power cut-off system, as well as the use of a drive train that has been specially modified to achieve the best possible level of efficiency.
By developing these innovations and achievements, Jihad hopes that these two innovative cars made by the ITS Nogogeni team can continue their achievements at the KMHE 2023 event by bringing home two first-place trophies in each class. “Moreover, this event will also be held next November and could be a gift for ITS on its 63rd Anniversary,” concluded the student from Lumajang.
