ITS Campus, ITS News —As the only representative from Asia Pacific and the Middle East, the Sapuangin Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) team succeeded in winning third place in the world at the Shell Eco-Marathon (SEM) World 2023 in Bangalore, India. This achievement succeeded in recording the name of the Sapuangin ITS team as the fastest urban car in the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) category.
After defeating 12 teams from various countries, the ITS Sapuangin team again spread its wings internationally after its last achievement in Mandalika, Lombok, last July. This time, the ITS energy-efficient car team showed off the speed and fuel efficiency of the Sapuangin XI Evo 3 car at the 2023 World Championship Final Race.
Sapuangin ITS External Relations crew Aliffia Nur Arinda said this victory was born after her team collected points from a series of competitions starting October 10 2023. This series of competitions included the Mileage Challenge with a score of 42 points and 18 points from time trial testing.
Previously, Sapuangin had competed in the Regional Championship in Mandalika with a score of eight points, “We got 68 points overall,” she said.
Looking in more detail, Rinda explained that the Mileage Challenge competition tested the toughness and fuel efficiency of energy-saving cars. In this category, the Sapuangin ITS team showed off its superiority by making fuel use efficient by 281 kilometres per litre.
“The ITS Sapuangin team won second place in this round,” she said.
The adrenaline rush of the Sapuangin ITS team became even more intense when the position of their flagship energy-saving car lagged. Thus, they have to speed up from last place not to lose.
To make Mother Earth proud, the ITS energy-saving car team is slowly catching up until it manages to occupy third place.
Rinda said that the ITS Sapuangin team’s victory in winning third place in the world was an extraordinary joy and pride for her and the team. This achievement resulted from their hard work and efforts over the past three months.
“Following our slogan, our mother’s prayers that always accompany us also support our success in making the nation proud,” concluded Rinda, feeling proud. (ITS Public Relations)
