ITS Campus, ITS News – The limitation of technology access has been a challenging issue hindering the progress of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) practitioners. To address this issue, the ITS Community Service team from the Department of Information Systems at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has developed a Point of Sale and Marketing (POSM) application called WarungKu.
Melatie Raghyl Putri, a member of the KKN Community Service team, explained that they conceived the idea for this application after observing MSME enthusiasts in Cikaso Village, Ciamis, West Java, who faced challenges in managing sales transactions and inventory manually. “They (MSME practitioners) still do everything manually,” said Melatie.
Based on this urgency, according to Melatie, the development of POSM emerged to enhance the productivity and marketing of MSMEs in Cikaso Village. WarungKu is an application aimed at simplifying financial management and product marketing for MSME enthusiasts. “We have three main features: stock, transactions, and history,” she elaborated.
In detail, Melatie continued to highlight three main advantages offered by WarungKu in assisting MSME practitioners. She explained that the application allows MSME practitioners to optimize inventory management through real-time monitoring, making the management of goods more efficient and accurate.
Additionally, to reduce errors in sales transaction records, the application is supported by automatic transaction recording. Melatie added that her team also assisted MSME practitioners in creating the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS). “So that the buying and selling process can be more practical later,” Melatie added.
In addition to the above two features, Melatie emphasized that WarungKu also has other benefits for MSME enthusiasts. She stressed that the application, designed over approximately a month, is also equipped with smart marketing features through social media. “Thus, MSMEs can reach more customers and increase profits,” she said.
With various features, the aspiring writer believes that WarungKu is an innovative solution for the digitalization of MSMEs. Besides having effective functions and features, the application’s usage is relatively simple. “We also demonstrate how to use it to MSME enthusiasts,” said Melatie.
During the three-day training starting from November 3, the ITS student team received positive and enthusiastic responses from MSME practitioners. Despite being mostly elderly, according to Melatie, these MSME practitioners were very cooperative and enthusiastic during the training. “They are not hesitant to ask, learn, and seek help,” she expressed.
Considering the enthusiasm of MSME enthusiasts and the successful implementation of WarungKu, Melatie hopes that the small contribution she and her team have made can improve the living standards and economic potential of MSME practitioners. “I hope WarungKu can continue to develop its various features to better support MSMEs,” she concluded.
