ITS Campus, ITS News – Surviving for four consecutive years, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) again succeeded in winning the Informative Qualification at the 2023 Public Information Openness Award. This award was handed over directly at the event at the Palace of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/19).
ITS Rector, Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng, said that ITS needs to continuously maintain this achievement. As a public body that serves the community, ITS is required to make it easy for the public to access various information about ITS. “Apart from that, this openness of information also illustrates how democracy in Indonesia works,” he said after receiving the award.
According to the Rector, nicknamed Ashari, several indicators make ITS worthy of receiving this informative qualification. One of them is that ITS has delivered various information needed by the community. Apart from that, ITS has also carried out diverse innovations to provide access to people with disabilities, such as providing sign language interpreters at various activities at ITS and the ITS website, which is equipped with visually impaired-friendly features.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Central Information Commission (KIP) Donny Yoesgiantoro said that by 2023, there will be 139 public bodies that will achieve informative qualifications. This number has increased significantly compared to 2022, when there were only 122 public bodies. “This number has exceeded the national medium-term development plan target, namely 90 informative public bodies,” he said proudly.
Furthermore, Donny explained that in this era of openness, information can accelerate the nation’s intelligence process. Therefore, information disclosure needs to continue to be intensified to create an informative society that is advanced, intelligent, and has a Pancasila personality, as well as realizing clean, transparent, and accountable state administration.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr (HC) KH Ma’ruf Amin, said that openness of public information is a fundamental element in realizing good governance. On the other hand, openness of public information is also a determinant of the success of bureaucratic reform. “I believe that transparency is a way to maintain democracy, which aims to improve the welfare of the people,” he said.
