ITS Campus, ITS News – The Rector Election (Pilrek) at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has reached its pinnacle. In this five-yearly democratic event at ITS, Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD IPU AEng has been officially elected as the ITS Rector for the 2024-2029 term based on the plenary meeting results of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of ITS in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/11).
Chairman of MWA ITS (Broad of Trustees) Prof Dr Ir Mohammad Nuh DEA stated that this decision was made based on the MWA ITS voting on three rector candidates (carek) who had been filtered previously at the level of the ITS Academic Senate. Nuh, who is often addressed as Nuh, added that a total of 23 votes, including the vote of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia, were included. Through this stage, Bambang Pramujati from the Department of Mechanical Engineering received 15 votes, Agus Muhammad Hatta ST MSi PhD from the Department of Physics Engineering received 6 votes, and Dr. Machsus ST MT from the Department of Civil Infrastructure Engineering received 1 vote.
Although the final decision was made through voting, the former Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia from 2009 to 2014 stated that the results obtained are still in line with the consensus for advancing ITS. According to Nuh, every stage of the process in this ITS democracy event has proceeded in accordance with the principles of pilrek, from togetherness, transparency, and accountability, to meritocracy and consensus-building, he explained.
Continuing his explanation, Nuh mentioned that in each process, all rector candidates have shown determination to continue and improve the quality of ITS. He emphasized that the various innovations proposed contribute to achieving financial independence for ITS. “Certainly, all of this ultimately leads to the shared vision of realizing ITS as a cornerstone towards Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045),” he stated firmly.
Looking back, Nuh detailed the series of pilrek stages that began in August 2023. The sequence started with socialization, followed by the phase of gathering aspirations from the 20 applicants for rector candidacy (bacarek), the screening of five bacarek, the screening of three carek, until the final election of the chosen rector. In all these stages, Nuh expressed appreciation for the participation and enthusiasm of the ITS academic community, which he considered a key factor for the success of this term’s ITS pilrek.
