ITS Campus, ITS News — Not only from the regular undergraduate (S1) program, but the applied undergraduate (D4) program at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) also succeeded in graduating its best graduates. She is Septia Pelita Sari, a Recognition of Past Learning (RPL) student at the ITS Department of Business Statistics who graduated with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.82 and will graduate at the 129th Graduation Ceremony at ITS Graha Sepuluh Nopember, Saturday (20/4).
The desire to continue gaining knowledge is embedded in the student, who is commonly called Septi. Through the RPL program, she revealed the reason he continued her studies at ITS Business Statistics Department: the learning was more specialized for the world of work. “The statistics studied lead to industry, so you can be better imagine your future career,” added Septi.
With her persistence, the Smart Indonesia Scholarship recipient took advantage of the opportunity at ITS to prepare herself to enter the world of work. It is proven from many brilliant academic achievements with a high GPA each semester. “Thank God, since the first semester, students with the highest GPA have always been nominated,” she said proudly.
Her enthusiasm did not stop in the academic field, the D3 Statistics alumnus of Padang State University (UNP) also had an internship at the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. This internship experience was a starting point to motivate her to pursue career in the world of statistics, especially as it suited her interests. “When I was placed in the data entry and population census validation section, I gained a lot of new knowledge and insight,” she said.
Septi said that her first internship experience was a plus point for her to try other internship experiences. Furthermore, while at ITS, the alumna of SMAN 1 Malang also had the opportunity to take part in the Certified Independent Study and Internship Program (MSIB). At that time, she managed to qualify for an internship in PT Indextat Consultant Indonesia as a survey research analyst.
All of these achievements cannot be separated from her commitment to pursue her studies in ITS. She admitted that her career path started from her final assignment research (TA), which examined the issue of quality control in the plantation industry. It was what brought her to her current job position as a research analyst at the company where she previously interned.
However, Septi also said that her journey to get to this point was not easy. She said that she often experienced obstacles in adapting to new environments. “When you first entered ITS as an advanced student, you had to adapt to new policies and environments,” said the student who was born in Malang on September 20, 2000.
At that time, Septi responded to obstacles as a driving force to continue to develop. She admitted that she was actually learning to communicate and build relationships in a new environment. “We must be willing to open ourselves up and help each other; that way, we will easily adapt even in new environments,” she said.
Septi feels grateful to be able to continue her studies in ITS because there are so many experiences and opportunities offered by this Heroic Campus to its students. Besides, she felt very supported by the lecturers and educational staff who are very supportive. At the end, she advised ITS students who are still studying at this time to take advantage of all the opportunities available in ITS to explore their interests and potential. (ITS Public Relation)
