ITS Campus, ITS News — Proud news comes again from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) robotics team at the 2024 Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI). This time, the ITS robotics team was once again successful by winning six championship titles at the KRI 2024 Region II event, which was organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) online last Saturday (1/6).
ITS Robotics Team Coordinator Muhtadin ST MT explained that the six championship titles were 1st place in the Humanoid Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI) by the Ichiro team, 1st place in the Wheeled Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI) by the IRIS team, 1st place in the Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) by the Rivone team, as well as 1st place in the Indonesian Robot Dance Art Contest (KRSTI) by the VI-Rose team. Furthermore, the 3rd place position was won by the Abinara-1 team for the Indonesian SAR Robot Contest (KRSRI) and the Banyubramanta team in the Indonesian Underwater Robot Contest (KRBAI).
The coach of the ITS Ichiro team explained that before competing in KRI 2024 Region II, there are a series of selections that each team needs to go through. Starting from the first stage, namely evaluating proposals, to evaluating progress reports in the second stage of selection, “After winning the regional level, the teams will compete in the National KRI 2024,” added Muhtadin.
After conducting research and development since September 2023, this ITS Computer Engineering Department lecturer admitted that the ITS Robotics Team had done their best in KRI 2024 Region II. The achievements of this event will then become an evaluation for the National KRI 2024, which will be held offline at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (UMS) on July 3–8, 2024.
On the other hand, ITS Rivone team leader Zain Syakir explained that his team implemented innovation in a simple but effective robot mechanism. The robot made by the team is focused on carrying out only a few tasks to achieve maximum scores. “This mechanism is supported by a good programming algorithm,” explained Zain.
Thanks to this innovation, the Rivone team successfully scored a perfect score and became the best in the KRAI division for region II. This success certainly further spurred the team’s enthusiasm for optimizing the robot to compete at the national level later. “Apart from robots, preparations for nationals are also followed by deeper strategies and research,” said this ITS Electrical Engineering Department student.
Zain also hopes that his team and the other ITS Robotics Team can maximize preparations for about a month towards the National KRI 2024. The achievements obtained at the regional level can be a driving force to bring ITS back as the overall champion. “Hopefully ITS will become the overall champion again, and our team can continue to the international level,” he said.
