ITS Campus, ITS News — Starting a new era of leadership, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is committed to realizing its vision of becoming a sustainable University. The official induction of four new Vice-Rectors for the 2024–2029 period, which took place at Graha Sepuluh Nopember ITS on Friday (14/6), signifies this first step.
ITS Rector, Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD, personally inaugurated the four new Vice-Rectors (WR). They are Prof Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD, as WR I for Academic and Student Affairs; Dr Machsus ST MT, as WR II for Planning, Finance, and Infrastructure; Imam Baihaqi ST MSc PhD, as WR III for Human Resources, Organization, and Information System Technology (SDMO and TSI); and Agus Muhamad Hatta ST MSi PhD, as WR IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni.
In his speech, Bambang expressed that the inauguration of these new officials who will accompany him is an initial step towards realizing the vision of becoming a Sustainable University. The previous leadership has achieved various accomplishments to enhance ITS’s existence and reputation nationally and internationally. “In the future, the achievements in each field must be continued and, if necessary, enhanced by the aspirations of the founders and previous leaders of ITS,” the rector, who was inaugurated on April 30, said.
The Yogyakarta-born man also explained the significant responsibilities that will be entrusted to the new vice-rectors in the future. In addition to producing academically intelligent graduates, the vice-rectors must also be able to develop students with social awareness towards surrounding issues. “I want to invite the vice-rectors and the entire academic community to create an ITS environment that is innovative, adaptive, and responsive to societal problems,” he said.
Furthermore, Bambang emphasized that human resource development is crucial for future investment. Therefore, the regeneration process, from educational staff to students, must also be considered. Existing policies should be reviewed and developed into new ideas to create advancements in human civilization in line with ITS’s motto, “Advancing Humanity.”
The lecturer from the Mechanical Engineering Department expressed his gratitude for the service and dedication provided by the 12th ITS Rector, Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng. Together with the previous vice-rectors, ITS achieved numerous proud accomplishments. This serves as a benchmark to continuously strengthen collaboration across various sectors to enhance ITS’s reputation as an innovative campus.
Closing his remarks, Bambang stated that the tasks ahead will undoubtedly come with a series of challenges that must be overcome. Therefore, synergy and collaboration from various parties are needed to ensure these tasks are completed successfully. “With the support of the Board of Trustees (MWA), the ITS Academic Senate, as well as the educators and students, we can realize the vision of a Sustainable University,” he asserted optimistically.
