ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again triumphed, claiming the Overall Championship title for the sixth time at the 2024 Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI). In an impressive feat, the ITS Robotics Team secured six championship titles during the KRI 2024 awards ceremony held at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) on Friday night (5/7).
At this national-level robotics contest, the ITS Robotics Team excelled in six out of the seven categories they participated in. These include winning first place in the Indonesian SAR Robot Contest (KRSRI), the Indonesian Humanoid Soccer Robot Contest (KRSBI), the Indonesian Dance Art Robot Contest (KRSTI), the Indonesian Thematic Robot Contest (KRTMI), and the Indonesian Underwater Robot Contest (KRBAI), as well as securing second place in the Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI).
After passing all the selection stages, seven ITS robotics teams showcased their skills in the final round of KRI 2024. The competition began with Team Abinara-1’s performance in the KRSRI category, where they not only secured first place but also earned the title of Best Strategy Team. In this category, Team Abinara-1 was tasked with carrying out search and rescue missions in disaster scenarios.
Competing with its four robots, Ithaaro, Umaru, Hiro, and Siber, Team Ichiro clinched the first place in the KRSBI Humanoid category. Additionally, with their impressive strategy, Team Ichiro also earned the title of Best Strategy Team. “We managed to score three goals in the final round,” said Thomas Prayoga Susanto, leader of ITS Team Ichiro.
After a setback in last year’s contest, ITS reclaimed the first place in the KRTMI category at KRI 2024. In this category, Team Rival ITS successfully completed the mission of sorting waste with the help of two remotely controlled robots. Thanks to the dexterity of the robots and their operators, Team Rival accumulated the highest points, making them the winners in the final round.
Not to be outdone, Team Vi-Rose soared to first place in the KRSTI category at KRI 2024. In their performance, Team Vi-Rose presented two robots, Rafa and Nada, dressed in traditional costumes to perform the Oleg Tamulilingan dance from Bali. “Because our performance was deemed spectacular, we also received the Best Design and Artistic title,” proudly stated Hendrianto Suprobo, a member of ITS Team Vi-Rose.
Next, the performance in the KRBAI category required robots to execute basic movements and behaviors of autonomous underwater robots. Thanks to the success of the Naru Musa robot in performing underwater activities, ITS Team Banyubramanta won first place and the title of Best Strategy Team in this relatively new category at KRI.
With an intriguing theme, this year’s KRAI category tasked robots with performing rice cultivation to enhance production efficiency. In this category, ITS, represented by Team Rivone, secured second place and the title of Best Strategy Team for successfully completing the challenges of sowing, planting, and harvesting rice seeds.
Lastly, ITS Team IRIS had to be content with winning the Best Design award in the KRSBI Wheeled category. Despite this, the entire Team IRIS was still happy as their preparation left a positive first impression and managed to capture the judges’ attention. “With Mashimo and Matheo, we combined the vibrant spirit of Surabaya with the beauty of Solo Batik,” explained a team member proudly.
Moreover, according to Muhtadin, all the research support facilities provided by ITS significantly enhanced the maturity of the ITS Robotics Team. Not resting on their laurels, the ITS Robotics Team is committed to continuously learning and striving to maintain and improve their outstanding achievements in the future.
Muhtadin, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering, hopes that the success of the ITS Robotics Team can inspire all ITS students to achieve future glory. “We hope the achievements of the ITS Robotics Team will serve as inspiration and motivation to continue raising ITS’s name both nationally and internationally,” Muhtadin encouraged.
