ITS Campus, ITS News — Ready to achieve new milestones, the electric vehicle research team, Anargya from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), has officially unveiled their latest car, the Anargya Formula EV Mark 4.0. The car, which will compete in the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) Japan 2024, was officially launched at Balai Pemuda Building, Surabaya, on Tuesday (20/8).

ITS Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnerships, and Alumni, Agus Muhamad Hatta ST MSi PhD, stated that ITS remains committed to supporting all innovations driven by ITS academic members. “We hope that the Anargya team’s car will achieve the highest accolades in Japan,” said the ITS Department of Physics Engineering lecturer.

General Manager (GM) of the Anargya ITS Team, Berlianando Nurillah Tegar Abimanyu, explained that the Anargya Formula EV Mark 4.0 features several innovations compared to its predecessor, especially in its mechanical components. “Our car has a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour,” said the student from the ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Nando, as he is affectionately called, revealed that the 287-kilogram car utilizes a tubular space frame chassis made from Carbon Steel JIS STKM 11A. Meanwhile, the body is constructed through a hand lay-up process using fiberglass composite with a nomex honeycomb core. “The car measures 3.346 meters in length, 1.465 meters in width, and 1.269 meters in height,” he explained.

The team, guided by Alief Wikarta ST MScEng PhD, also enhanced the car’s suspension geometry and steering system to meet track requirements. Additionally, the vehicle’s low-voltage system has been made more compact and simplified, and features a peltier element to aid in cooling the tractive system. “To maintain the temperature of the accumulator and battery, the car is equipped with an active cooling fan and air duct,” Nando elaborated.

FSAE Japan 2024 marks the third time the Anargya ITS team will compete in this international student-level electric formula car competition. The event, which will take place over six days starting Monday (9/9) at Aichi Sky Expo in Japan, will see the Anargya team participate in all competition categories, including static and dynamic events.
