ITS Campus, ITS News — Rector of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD officially inaugurated 6,485 new ITS students for the 2024/2025 academic year at the ITS Stadium on Friday (2/8).
In his remarks, the man who is familiarly called BP expressed his happiness in welcoming the ITS first-year students. BP emphasized that the new generation of this campus of struggle will be great people in the future. “You are the leaders of the nation and the world, presidents, entrepreneurs, thinkers, and influential public figures in the future,” he said confidently.
For example, BP mentioned several ITS alum names who have been successful in the national and international arena, including Prof Dr Ir Mohammad Nuh DEA. “With his skills, he served as Minister of National Education of Indonesia from 2009–2014. And currently serves as Chairman of the ITS Board of Trustees,” he said.
The ITS Mechanical Engineering Department lecturer revealed that ITS is the home of innovators and champions. Many innovations and achievements have been made by ITS, one of which is the General Champion of the Indonesian Robot Contest, which has been achieved six times by ITS. “In the last three years, ITS has also received awards because its graduates are most quickly absorbed in the work environment, continuing their studies, and entrepreneurship,” he said.
BP also assured the first-year students not to worry about cost constraints while studying at ITS. The reason is that ITS has a principle that students at ITS should only continue learning if they can afford it. “Please come to the association, department, and faculty. We will find any way that the problem can be resolved properly,” he said.
ITS Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD, reported that of the 6,485 ITS first-year students, 5,655 came from undergraduate programs, and the remaining 830 were from postgraduate programs. The number is a combination of three selection channels at ITS: national selection based on achievement (SNBP), national selection based on tests (SNBT), and independent selection.
In addition, this year, ITS also received 1,050 students with Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP-K) scholarships and 50 students with the Achievement Santri Scholarship Program (PBSB). “And we also accept foreign students for full degree and non-degree Bachelor programs as many as 190 people from 29 countries,” he reported.
