Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) became the university that ranked the second most teams that passed the 2024 National Student Science Week (Pimnas). This is evidenced by the results of the latest release of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) which states that ITS managed to pass 44 proposals for the Student Creativity Program (PKM).

Head of the Talent Development Section of the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) ITS Hakun Wirawasista Aparamarta ST MMT PhD revealed that this year ITS is targeting to become the general champion of the upcoming 37th Pimnas. In order to achieve this, ITS has prepared the right strategy to achieve this target. “ITS pays great attention to this Pimnas which has been prepared through socialization and training,” he explained.

Reflecting on the previous year, this year ITS managed to pass 44 teams from a total of 156 funded proposals. This shows a surge from the previous 33 teams. This surge in the number of teams that passed shows an increase in the quality and quantity of ITS student research from year to year. “This year the enthusiasm of ITS students is greater than before,” said Hakun.

In line with the above statement, Hakun added that this year the ITS team that passed successfully spread across each PKM field. A total of 10 titles from the field of Exact Research (PKMRE) and 10 titles from the field of Copyright Work (PKMKC). Followed by seven titles in the field of Entrepreneurship (PKMK) and three titles in the field of Community Service (PKPM).

After that, three titles from the Innovative Work field (PKMKI) along with the Futuristic Ideas field (PKMGFK), and the Constructive Video Ideas field (PKMVGK). There are also five titles in the field of Social Humanities research (PKMRSH) and three titles in the field of Written Ideas (PKMGT).

Hakun admitted, Ditmawa continues to try to facilitate student research as best as possible. Starting from the readiness of the Kesatria Sepuluh November (KSN) and the escort team from each Department Student Association (HMD) who took part since the preparation of the ITS PKM League to preparing reasoning lecturers who were responsive to guiding their students. “We make every effort so that students can realize their research,” he said.

Furthermore, Hakun said, unlike last year where the PKM activity coordinator was taken from one of the KSN staff, this year ITS selected the activity coordinator through a rigorous selection. This is done as part of ITS’s efforts to improve the quality of strong research among students.

Unmitigated, this ITS Chemical Engineering Department lecturer said that this year, the Electrical Engineering Department contributed the most teams. This is an achievement that should be appreciated from the Electrical Engineering academic community in improving the quality of its students. Not only that, the new Medical Technology Study Program (Prodi) also managed to contribute two teams that passed the 37th Pimnas this year. “Although Medical Technology is still new, the quality of innovation is not inferior to other departments,” he said proudly.

The man from Surabaya expressed his hope that ITS students who participated in Pimnas this year could foster the spirit of competition and student creativity, so that the knowledge learned could benefit the community. “Hopefully through this activity, ITS students will continue to be enthusiastic in developing their potential in the field of research,” he concluded hopefully.
