ITS Campus, ITS News — The Anargya team from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) made another proud achievement in the international arena. The electric vehicle research team successfully defended one of the titles for the Presentation Eventand Top 10 for the Electrical Vehical (EV) class at the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers(FSAE) Japan 2024 event held at the Aichi Sky Expo, Aichi, Japan, which ended on Saturday (14/9).
FSAE Japan is a competition for students from around the world to build an electric formula car. The competition requires participating teams to pay attention to technical aspects, design concepts, costs, and car marketing. Being the only team from Indonesia, the Anargya ITS team this time had to compete with 75 teams from Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and China.
Anargya ITS Team General Manager Berlianando Nurillah Tegar Abimanyu explained that there are two categories in this competition, namely Static Event and Dynamic Event. In the Static Event, the team presented an analysis of the design, cost, and business strategy of the electric formula car that had been developed. “Alhamdulillah, we won third place for the Presentation Event,” said the young man who is familiarly called Nando gratefully.
Excelling among competitors from various world universities, the student from Trenggalek revealed his team’s strategy in the Presentation Event, namely with a digital and environmental approach. The utilization of human-like-technologyas a marketing tool was able to increase car sales by 23 percent. In terms of the environment, the team designed a recycled semiconductor material for car components that has an environmental impact of 70 percent.
Meanwhile, Nando added, his team also underwent a series of technical inspections both in terms of electrical and mechanical aspects of the car. He revealed that the most challenging thing was how every aspect of the car met the criteria expected by the judges. “After going through EV Inspection, the inspection continued with technical inspection, egressand driver flag test, tilt test, weight measurement, and rain test,” he explained.
The student of the ITS Mechanical Engineering Department explained that the car made by his team, Anargya EV Mark 4.0, was safe from leaks and did not roll over at an extreme tilt angle of 60 degrees during the tilt test. For the rain test, the 298-kilogram car was showered with water for 2 minutes and the functioning of its components was observed. “We developed the electrical enclosure component by creating waterproof protection for each component to pass this stage,” said Nando.
Nando said that the success of the Anargya ITS team at FSAE Japan 2024 cannot be separated from the hard work of all team members and the full support of various parties, especially ITS which always encourages innovation at the international level. He views his team’s progress in the competition as motivation to continue to innovate and make ITS and Indonesia proud in the next international event.
Nando admits that all the evaluations and experiences from FSAE Japan 2024 are a provision for the following year. The series of challenges during the competition this time strengthened the fighting spirit of the Anargya ITS team. “For us, the struggle in this competition is a process towards the dream that we are realizing, and we will continue to pursue that dream until we succeed,” he concluded optimistically.
