ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to initiate cross-country cooperation to strengthen the vision of a World Class University (WCU). Through the Study in Japan Office which was inaugurated on Tuesday (17/9), ITS and Kumamoto University collaborated with 800 universities in Japan to increase student educational mobilization in the ASEAN region.
Inaugurated at ITS Global Kampong, this cooperation office has the main mission to provide all the information needed for study abroad to Japan. Kumamoto University Officer Mia Hernawati AMd explained, the inauguration of the Study in Japan Office at ITS opens wide opportunities for Indonesian students to conduct student exchanges to Japan. Having a focus on catalyzing Indonesian and Malaysian students, the office under Kumamoto University provides a variety of information to interesting programs to attract the interest of academics from across the country.
The office, of which there are only two in Indonesia, offers various access to information to study at various universities in Japan, ranging from tips and tricks, student exchange, to scholarships offered in certain periods. “The difference with the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) is that the Study in Japan Office also provides broader information than just scholarships,” Mia said.
In accordance with this, the office, located within the ITS Directorate of Global Partnerships, does not limit students to studying at Kumamoto University, but also encourages them to go to the 800 other universities in the country. The Study in Japan office is able to provide all information related to universities in Japan, in accordance with its ambition to facilitate ASEAN students, especially Indonesians, in gaining exposure to the country.
ITS itself has long collaborated with Kumamoto University, which was founded in 1949, so both have contributed a lot to sending a number of ITS academics and other partners to Japan and vice versa. “Kumamoto University considers that ITS is a suitable institution to be used as a place to support Study in Japan programs that previously existed in Jakarta,” said the woman from Surabaya.
Meanwhile, ITS Rector Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD in his speech, wants the initiation of one of the ASEAN Offices to lead ITS students to actively take great opportunities in trying out student exchange in Japan through the facilities that have been provided. “That way, ITS can become a university that goes global, has a high international insight,” said the number one person at ITS.
In addition to being attended by Vice President of Organization for Globalization Kumamoto University Prof Mitsuyo Kishida and several ITS officials, the inauguration of the Study in Japan Office at ITS was also attended by representatives from Okayama University. The event was followed by a seminar and info session related to the Study in Japan Program held in ITS Theater A.
Prof. Mitsuyo Kishida said, with the establishment of the new Study in Japan office at ITS, it is hoped that this collaboration can produce many Indonesian students who interact with Japan through deepening knowledge in the Land of the Rising Sun. “The establishment of the Study in Japan Office at ITS will increase opportunities for Indonesian students to study in Japan more massively,” he said enthusiastically.
