ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) again inaugurated 129 new engineers through the Engineer Professional Program Study Program (PSPPI) at the Dyandra Convention Center Surabaya, Saturday (5/10). At the moment of the inauguration of these engineers, ITS again emphasized its commitment to supporting national development needs.
ITS Rector Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD IPU AEng said that engineers are vital figures in national development. This is because an engineer has the authority to be responsible for various efforts to advance the nation. For example, improving infrastructure and industrial development. “The need for engineers is also increasing, as evidenced by the increasing trend in the number of PSPPI registrants in the last few years,” said the rector who is familiarly called BP.
As a response to this increasing need, the lecturer from the ITS Mechanical Engineering Department emphasized that ITS is committed to producing the best graduates in the engineering profession every year. This inauguration event, according to him, is an implementation of this commitment.
Furthermore, BP explained, there were 129 engineers inaugurated this time. In detail, 121 engineers came from the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) program and eight other engineers came from the regular program. “With this inauguration, ITS has produced exactly 1,236 professional engineers,” said BP, who is also an alumnus of the first batch of the RPL program.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) for the East Java Region, Dr. Ir. Gentur Prihantono SP SH MT MH IPU, assessed that ITS’s step in deepening this commitment was the right step. According to him, an engineering school is something that is needed in developing Indonesia. “Armed with the experience that you gain from this program, God willing, you can be relied on to carry out various national development projects in the future,” said Gentur encouragingly.
Finally, Gentur hopes that in line with the success of achieving this engineering degree, the newly inaugurated engineering professionals can have a big impact on national development. “Indonesian engineers, the spearhead of the nation’s progress,” he concluded with his jargon.
