ITS Campus, ITS News — Students of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) again managed to make the alma mater proud with brilliant achievements. This time, the students of the Department of Industrial Product Design (Despro) ITS won three awards at once in the 5th Indonesia Industrial Design Student Award (IIDSA).
Head of the ITS Despro Department Bambang Tristiyono ST MSi explained, IIDSA itself is an annual agenda that is routinely held by the Indonesian Industrial Product Designer Alliance (ADPII). In this activity, each Industrial Product Design Study Program (Prodi) throughout Indonesia sends its best work to compete in creativity and innovation. “In this year’s IIDSA, there are 26 universities competing with each carrying three best works of their students,” he explained.
Of the three works sent by Despro ITS to compete in the 5th IIDSA, all of them managed to be the best in each category they participated in. The first work entitled SAKA: Jinggowati Modular e-BIKE which won an award in the User Friendly Design Solution category.
Next is the work entitled Wooden Watch with Infused Essential Oil Feature as a Self-Therapy Tool for Anxiety Disorder Patients which excelled in the Transformative Design Solution category. Then, the work entitled Interior Exterior Design Concept of Sepinggan Airport Train – IKN Nusantara Kaltim managed to dominate in the Service Oriented Design Solution category. “Thus, we managed to excel in three of the 17 existing categories,” said Bambang proudly.
Bambang added that the three works competing at the Jakarta Design Center which was held for three days, since Thursday (10/10), were not simply representatives of Despro ITS. There is an internal selection stage that must be passed before advancing to the national stage. At this stage, the three works must show their superiority compared to the works of other Despro ITS students.
After passing the assessment by the ITS Despro lecturers, the three best works were chosen to represent the department that has been established since 1997. Uniquely, Bambang revealed that the three works that won awards at the 5th IIDSA were the products of the final assignments (TA) of the students.
Bambang hopes that other activities similar to the 5th IIDSA can continue to be present in the community. Through this agenda, he sees the potential to introduce Despro further to the community. “Hopefully this achievement can also be maintained because this is a form of pride for ITS Despro,” he said hopefully.
