The competition for students throughout Indonesia was echoed inSeminar WasteTrack di Aula Prof Handayani Departemen Teknik Informatika ITS, Jumat (1/11).
Vice Rector III for Human Resources, Organization (SDMO), and Technology & Information Systems ITS Imam Baihaqi ST MSc PhD views that waste management is a common problem that requires synergy from all parties in solving it. “Thus, WasteTrack can be a trigger for students, especially ITS students to synergize in environmental sustainability,” said Imam.
On the other hand, Director of Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability CCEP Indonesia Lucia Karina highlighted the major challenges faced by Indonesia in waste management. According to her, students as agents of change need to take steps to overcome this for a sustainable future. “Therefore, WasteTrack 2024 can be a forum for the younger generation to innovate for the sake of the environment,” said the woman who is familiarly called Karina.
Furthermore, Karina explained that the competition with a total prize of IDR 100 million with the output of this application design aims to improve traceability, accountability, and efficiency of waste management at waste banks. She emphasized that the applications built by participants are expected to be able to identify waste and be integrated with stakeholders. “Later, the applications that win in this competition can be introduced to the wider community,” she added.
This alumnus of the ITS Civil Engineering Department explained that the competition event which has opened registration since October 20, 2024, will start the series of competitions in November 2024. The competition which is held online is divided into two stages. Namely the first stage will last until December 21, 2024 and the second stage on December 21, 2024 – May 2025. “Students can see the wastetrack.id page regarding information on this competition,” concluded one of the pioneers of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program.
