ITS Campus, ITS News — Responding to the challenges of today’s communication technology developments, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) presents the Communication Science Bachelor’s Degree Study Program (Prodi). The study program, which is expected to produce superior and reliable graduates in the field of communication, was officially launched at the ITS Research Center Auditorium, Sunday (11/17).

ITS Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD enthusiastically welcomed the presence of the Communication Science Study Program at ITS. Because, one more study program in the social field is present in the middle of the ITS environment as a technology campus. “This is certainly good because social science is actually a bridge that can channel the benefits of technology to society,” she said.

The Professor of the ITS Department of Chemistry said that the presence of the study program under the auspices of the ITS Development Studies Department is a form of ITS contribution to the nation and the world. “It is hoped that Communication Science students and graduates can always present innovations that can create and support superior Indonesian human resources,” Nurul added.

Head of the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program, Hermanto SS MPd, while explaining and reviewing a series of facilities and advantages brought by the new ITS study program that he leads.

Completing further information regarding this new study program, Head of the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program Hermanto SS MPd explained the important role held by the field of communication science. Especially the role in the order of human life in the current digital and globalization era. “Communication science can influence public behavior and opinion and facilitate the exchange of information and ideas throughout the world,” he said.

Therefore, Hermanto continued, the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program will equip its students with communication skills in various fields through the courses offered. Among them are public communication, organizations and corporations, mass, business, politics, to global communication. That way, Hermanto emphasized that students are required to present positive content in society.

Furthermore, according to him, the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program also offers tempting job prospects for its graduates. Communication fields such as communication analysts, media practitioners, communication staff, and communication research assistants are waiting in the world of work. “Communication Science graduates can work in various sectors ranging from industry to government,” said the man from Magetan.

Hermanto revealed that the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program will officially accept its first students in the 2025/2026 academic year. With a quota of 50 seats, the ITS Communication Science Undergraduate Study Program is ready to be competed for through national and regular selection channels.
