ITS Reaches 77th World Ranking in THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025

ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again achieved an achievement by occupying 77th position in the world and 3rd position in Indonesia in the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025. This achievement released by Times Higher Education (THE) is real evidence in developing relevant and innovative cross-disciplinary research with global challenges.

ITS Rector Prof Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD expressed his appreciation as a form of recognition of ITS’s efforts in supporting the resolution of global issues through a cross-disciplinary approach. The award is considered as the result of the contribution of the entire ITS community in producing high-quality, innovative, and relevant research, which is one of the main factors behind this success.

Regarding future targets, the former Vice Rector IV of ITS said that a number of strategic steps have been prepared to strengthen ITS’s position in international rankings. Including strengthening and improving facilities, developing partnerships, and focusing on innovation based on interdisciplinary research. “Every step will be focused on creating a research ecosystem according to the needs of the community,” said the man who is often called BP.

The drive to continue to utilize research-based collaboration opportunities is also ITS’s commitment in the future. “The contribution that has been given by ITS through these various achievements is expected to open up opportunities for the international world,” concluded the lecturer from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

In line with the spirit of the ITS Chancellor, Senior Manager of the World Class University Division of the ITS Global Partnership Directorate (DKG) Rulli Pratiwi Setiawan ST MSc PhD also expressed that ITS’s success in achieving 77th place in the world and 3rd place nationally is real evidence of the quality of ITS research. “This achievement shows that the interdisciplinary approach is able to answer challenges holistically,” said Rulli.

The results of the achievement of the interdisciplinary approach carried out by ITS can be seen from the ranking assessment based on three main indicators, namely inputs, processes, and outputs in 11 sub-indicators. In this ranking, ITS managed to achieve a total score of 59.3 with a score of 78 for inputs; 62.5 for processes; and 53.1 for outputs.

According to Rulli, the high results of this assessment are expected to motivate ITS to continue to improve the quality of research, both through publications in reputable journals and international collaborations. “Support from various parties, including industry and global institutions, will be the key to maintaining and even improving ITS’s position at the world level,” said the lecturer at the ITS Department of Regional and City Planning (PWK).

All the support that ITS has provided has clearly succeeded in becoming an important element in supporting this achievement. Increasing cross-disciplinary collaboration at ITS is also focused on creating more comprehensive solutions to various global challenges.
