ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) reaffirmed its position as a future-oriented institution by partnering with PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology (SMART) Tbk. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ITS Rectorate Building on Thursday (5/12), this cooperation is focused on recruiting graduates and strengthening student competencies in agribusiness, food, and oil palm.
In her remarks, Head of HR Central Business Services (CBS) PT SMART Tbk Lilianawati expressed her appreciation for the strategic cooperation with ITS. She emphasized that the existence of graduates with superior competence and a deep understanding of industry needs is essential. “We want to produce talents who can understand the latest technology, as well as innovations that support the productivity and sustainability of the palm oil industry,” she said.
He also emphasized that the partnership goes beyond employment. Through technical training and career mentoring, he hopes ITS graduates will be equipped to face global challenges, including environmental management and production optimization. “We believe ITS graduates can become strategic assets that bring positive transformation to the national palm oil industry,” Lilianawati said optimistically.

In line with this, ITS Vice Chancellor IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni Affairs, Prof Agus Muhamad Hatta ST MSi PhD, emphasized that this partnership also equips students according to industry needs. “This collaboration is a real effort by ITS to bridge the academic and industrial worlds, especially in aligning competencies with technological developments faced by the palm oil sector,” he explained.
The ITS Engineering Physics Department lecturer added that ITS is committed to producing graduates who understand sustainability, innovation, and efficiency in the palm oil industry. “We want to make a direct contribution to improving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in the palm oil industry, which is currently one of the vital sectors of the Indonesian economy,” he said.
The MoU covers a series of innovative programs designed to provide ITS graduates with relevant skills in the world of work. The programs include technical recruitment that prepares graduates to enter the industrial world in the agribusiness sector. Through this initiative, ITS students are expected to develop innovations that are aligned with industry needs and support the growth of an increasingly competitive agribusiness sector.
