The ITS Antasena Team when receiving the first place award for PLN ICE 2024 in the Hydrogen Motorcycle Design and Construction category
ITS Campus, ITS News — After going through a rigorous funding phase, the Antasena Team from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) won first place in the 2024 State Electricity Company Innovation and Competition in Electricity (PLN ICE) competition in the Hydrogen Motorcycle Design and Construction category, Tuesday (10/12).
PLN ICE 2024 involves Indonesian students from various institutions to create innovations in the electricity sector. Held at the Electricity Research and Development (Puslitbang) headquarters in Jakarta, this event offers three competition categories. The Antasena Team participated in the Hydrogen Motorcycle Design and Construction category which assessed the technical aspects, implementation, safety, and ergonomic design of its motorcycle innovation.
Outperforming 21 teams from other institutions, the Non-Technical Manager of the ITS Antasena Team, Auliazqi Rarasati Najid, explained the superior features of his team’s work, the Antasena Bike. This motorbike is equipped with a multi-layered security protocol, including electrical protection, a hydrogen system, and protection from vibrations and shocks. “This technology is designed to ensure maximum safety for riders and maintain vehicle performance in various conditions,” explained the student from the Department of Instrumentation Engineering.

In addition, Aura added, Antasena Bike offers Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring that allows riders to monitor the condition of the motorbike in real-time, such as distance traveled, remaining hydrogen, GPS, ambient temperature, and humidity. “Real-time monitoring can be done on the rider’s smartphone,” said the 2022 student.
Not only monitoring and security features, Antasena Bike is also equipped with an Anodic Recirculation System to increase the efficiency of hydrogen use. This system allows the remaining hydrogen from the combustion process in the fuel cell to be flowed back into the system. A smart energy management system that is tailored to the rider’s needs also supports energy efficiency.

Behind this victory, the Antasena team also received recognition from nine out of ten judges who voted to place them in first place. Despite facing challenges such as a development time of only two months and academic demands, this actually strengthened the team’s spirit to support each other and continue to move forward.
Aura hopes that the Antasena team can continue to innovate and lead the development of clean energy technology and educate about environmentally friendly transportation. “Fewer Emissions Greater Vision is a tagline that reflects our commitment to research and education about greener transportation,” he concluded optimistically.
