ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again proven its commitment to supporting the implementation of science. In collaboration with the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA), the prestigious competition titled the 5th National Applied Science Olympiad (NASPO) and Indonesia International Applied Science Project Olympiad (I2ASPO) was officially held at Graha Sepuluh Nopember ITS, starting Wednesday (18/12).
In his opening remarks, ITS Vice Rector I Prof. Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD stated that this event is a forum for hundreds of young scientists from 15 countries to showcase their best innovations. With a total of 793 teams participating, the competition, which will last until Saturday (21/12), encourages the younger generation to create applicable solutions in various fields such as Internet of Things (IoT) technology, renewable energy, waste management, and other innovations. Not only that, Nurul also emphasized that ITS always supports activities that bridge science with its application in real life. “We are committed to providing full support for young scientists so that they can develop creative ideas that provide solutions,” he said.
IYSA Chairperson Deni Irawan MPd explained that the selection of the ITS campus, especially with the Actuarial Department, as the location for the event was not without reason. ITS has a strong reputation in supporting innovation and is equipped with adequate infrastructure for international scale events. “ITS’s reputation as a leading technology campus makes it an ideal choice to hold a scientific competition such as NASPO-I2ASPO,” said Deni.
In line with this, the Head of the Actuarial Department of the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (FSAD) ITS Dr Drs Soehardjoepri MSi stated that this collaboration is a real manifestation of ITS’s vision in building a generation of future scientists. “Through this competition, young scientists gain new insights and opportunities to network with other innovators from various countries,” he said.
Soehardjoepri also hopes that the synergy between ITS and IYSA can continue to develop and provide a wider positive impact. “Hopefully this collaboration will continue to be a forum for young scientists to realize creative ideas and create applied science solutions that are beneficial for the progress of the nation,” he said hopefully.
