ITS Campus, ITS News — Opening the year 2025, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) strengthens the spirit of togetherness as the main foundation in achieving the vision of the future. Through the Rector’s Speech for the Beginning of 2025 at Graha Sepuluh Nopember ITS, Thursday (9/1), ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD invited the entire ITS community to step forward together to advance ITS.
The rector’s speech at the beginning of the year is a form of openness of information from ITS to the public. Both regarding policy directions, strategies, and the launch of programs that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and others.
Starting his speech, Bambang explained a number of achievements that ITS has achieved throughout 2024. These achievements are contributions from the entire ITS community, from students, education staff (tendik), to lecturers. In the future, ITS is targeting an increase in research publications and QS World University Rankings (QS WUR), although current achievements have shown quite significant improvements.
The ITS Professor of Mechanical Engineering also highlighted the growth of cooperation income and the increase in endowment funds during 2024 which showed fantastic figures. “This achievement is the result of solid cooperation between ITS and partners, which needs to be continuously supported to achieve better results in the future,” said Bambang.
By continuing the same spirit, the former Vice Rector IV of ITS conveyed three priority programs that will be the main focus in 2025. Among others, placing ITS in the Top 500 QS WUR ranks, achieving financial independence, and implementing the ITS One Data program where all ITS components move based on one data and one goal. Through these programs, it is hoped that ITS’s academic reputation will become increasing globally in 2025.
To achieve the three priority programs, a plan has been prepared to strengthen the ITS network infrastructure. Some of the steps that will be taken include the development of the ITS High Speed Internet Campus, the installation of a fiber optic backbone network between buildings, and the construction of the Metro Link connecting the ITS Sukolilo, Manyar, and Cokroaminoto Campuses. “This infrastructure strengthening is expected to facilitate access and support the academic process at ITS,” he said hopefully.
Furthermore, Bambang explained, the development of building infrastructure is also being intensified in the ITS environment. The infrastructure mentioned is the construction of a lecture tower, the Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator of Indonesia (REIDI) laboratory, a badminton court and also a centralized parking lot. With this development, it is hoped that it can facilitate the needs of the ITS community in stepping together to realize the campus’ vision and mission.
On the same occasion, ITS also launched the Jumat Bersih Sehat Harmoni (Berseri) activity to support the five SDGs points. Among them are SDGs 3 on Good Health and Well-Being, SDGs 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation, SDGs 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDGs 13 on Climate Action, and SDGs 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. This Jumat Berseri activity will be held every Friday by inviting ITS academics to carry out activities that support healthy and clean living, one of which is by reducing the use of plastic.
ITS also encourages a program of unification or standardization of logos for each department in ITS. This program aims to strengthen the branding of each department so that it is more easily recognized by the public as part of ITS. With this strengthening of visual identity, it is hoped that each department can show a more solid and coordinated image in various academic and non-academic activities.
In the end, the ITS Mechanical Engineering S1 alumnus expressed his hope that in 2025 all ITS academicians would be able to move together, so as to provide a wider impact. “With program alignment, ITS will create strong harmony between faculties, departments and other fields to achieve common goals,” said Bambang optimistically.
