ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) ‘s consistency in improving quality is proven by its achievements, including occupying the first position of the best university in logistics and supply chain management in Indonesia according to EduRank. This achievement is the result of ITS’ efforts in pioneering education, research, and research in both fields over the past 25 years.

Professor from the ITS Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Prof Ir I Nyoman Pujawan MEng PhD CSCP, revealed that logistics and supply chain management are the backbone of the industrial process. Both studies determine a company’s efficiency, responsiveness, and productivity in carrying out and managing industrial processes.

Since 2000, he has continued, and ITS has sent several lecturers to study logistics and supply chain management abroad. Nyoman said the initial step sparked ITS to strengthen fundamentals in both fields. “After the study period, we began to finalize ourselves and opened the first lecture in Surabaya in 2001,” explained the first Professor of Supply Chain Management in Indonesia.

Starting from the supply chain management class, the Heroes Campus further solidified the development of these two fields of science by holding an international conference in 2005. The international conference, Operations, and Supply Chain Management was held in Bali and then continuously held in various other countries. “This is an effort by ITS to pioneer the spread of the application of logistics and supply chain management,” said the Professor, born in Bangli, Bali.

The Professor of supply chain management revealed that this ITS contribution continues to be involved as a pioneer in the formation of the Institut Supply Chain dan Logistics Indonesia (ISLI). He said ITS continues to develop this field of science, even continuing to escalate it to the postgraduate level and providing qualified learning facilities. “The birth of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Laboratory at the ITS Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is evidence of this,” he added.

This man with glasses continued that various other programs, such as penetration of courses in various departments to the publication of various journals and research, have continued to be intensified until now. These efforts are ITS’s steps to accommodate its students in order to become an ideal university in finalizing logistics and supply chain management. “Slowly but surely, ITS is now starting to reach a fairly ideal institutional condition,” he confirmed.

This ideal condition, Nyoman added, was slowly achieved by the excellence of research publications and the close relationship between ITS and various industries. Therefore, the opportunity for students to understand logistics and supply chain management will grow rapidly. “Consultation, training, and cooperation in related fields are good learning media for students,” said the man who previously served as Dean of the ITS Sekolah Interdisiplin Manajemen dan Teknologi (SIMT) and is now the Rector of Universitas Logistik dan Bisnis Internasional (ULBI).

The research achievements of ITS lecturers and students show ITS’s commitment to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 9, which involve creating adequate industry, innovation, and infrastructure, and SDGs 17, which involves realizing goals through partnerships. In addition, this is also a form of ITS transparency in providing information disclosure to the public.

In the future, he hopes that ITS can continue to launch various programs and media to accommodate students and contribute to the industrial process. “So it is hoped that ITS can continue to score a good reputation in related fields and provide benefits to industry and society,” said Nyoman optimistically.
