The Last Detectives ITS team, through the innovation of the myITS Lost & Found program, won gold at NQPC XXVIII 2024
ITS Campus, ITS News — Information on lost items in the campus environment must certainly be accessible to the entire academic community. Based on this need, a team of academic staff called The Last Detectives from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) developed the myITS Lost & Found website in an effort to increase the percentage of lost item returns in the campus environment.
The Last Detectives ITS team leader Andri Gunawan explained that there were around 700 reports of lost items that had been reported to the ITS Campus Security Unit (in Indonesian: Satuan Keamanan Kampus, will be furtherly referred to as SKK) during the period January – September 2024. The reporting system still using Google Forms is considered less effective, as reflected in the high number of unresolved loss cases. “Reports of lost and found items can only be accessed by SKK, so information is not spread to the academic community,” said Andri.

By developing myITS Lost & Found, Andri and his team intended to expand the reach of information on reported lost items. This digital service can be accessed by all people who use an account integrated with the myITS SSO portal. In addition, agents or administrators are spread across various ITS units and departments who are tasked with assisting the report process.
The man who served in the ITS Facilities and Infrastructure Bureau said there were two main menus in the myITS Lost & Found program: loss reports and discovery reports. ITS academics or residents can visit the nearest Lost & Found agent to make a lost report. Reports include information related to the type, description, and location of the item’s loss or discovery.

Furthermore, the reporter is also asked to attach documentation of the item to make it easier for web visitors to identify the item. Reports submitted will be verified by the system so that they can be displayed on the home menu, and all users can access them. On the menu, there is an agent contact who can be contacted when finding lost items. “Meanwhile, reporting found items has the same technicalities,” Andri added.
Andri said that despite early challenges in the implementation process, the program was able to run with the help of various parties. Socialization is carried out to provide direction and understanding to agents throughout the ITS work unit. Currently, agents are spread across seven work units and seven departments in ITS. This number is expected to continue to grow along with future developments.

Thanks to the innovation it initiated, The Last Detectives ITS team has succeeded in making achievements at the XXVIII National Quality and Productivity Convention (NQPC) 2024. The team, which also includes Fikri Haykal SKom and Samsul Arifin, brought home the gold medal at the annual competition held in Bali in early December 2024.
In the future, various updates will be added to my Lost & Found as one of steps to realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 9, which encourage sustainable innovation. In addition, this innovation is also an ITS effort to support public information disclosure. Andri hopes this technology can solve the problem of lost items that often occur in the ITS environment. “In line with our slogan: lost goods, return home,” he concluded optimistically.
