ITS Campus, ITS News — The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) automotive team has once again proves its excellence in the international arena. This time, the ITS Antasena team achieved four achievements in the Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) Asia Pacific and Middle East 2025 event held in Qatar. One of its brilliant achievements was winning third place on-track in the Prototype Hydrogen Fuel Cell category.

Non-Technical Manager of Antasena ITS, Auliazqi Rarasati Najid, revealed that his team showed an extraordinary performance at the Lusail International Circuit. The car they designed recorded fuel efficiency of up to 341 km per liter, an increase of 40 percent from the previous vehicle. “This achievement shows that the innovation and strategy we implemented have succeeded in increasing energy efficiency,” explained Aura, her nickname.

This success cannot be separated from the complex strategy applied in various aspects of the competition assessment. Vehicle aerodynamics, energy management, and driving strategy are the main keys to victory in this event. By optimizing each sector, Antasena was able to compete with a total of 61 teams from various countries. Every technical detail is carefully calculated so that the vehicle can achieve the best performance on the track.

Aura revealed that the team faced various challenges, especially due to the limited preparation time. Within six months, the team had to design two vehicles at once, which required hard work and solid coordination. “We have to ensure that each team member has a clear role so that all aspects of the vehicle can be completed on time,” said the 2022 student.

In addition to technical excellence, the ITS Antasena team also relies on their teamwork as a winning strategy. Each member has an important role in achieving common targets and ensuring that the vehicle functions optimally. Good cooperation between the engineering, design, and strategy divisions is essential in facing this international competition. “We believe that team success is not only about technology, but also how we work together and support each other,” said Aura.

Not only did they excel on the track, the Antasena ITS team also brought home three other awards that further strengthened their position in the world of sustainable automotive. The team won first place in the Vehicle Design Award Prototype Category, which is the newest competition in SEM. In addition, they also won second place in the Communication Award and the Place Carbon Footprint Reduction Award.

This victory was greeted with great pride by all team members. They admitted that they did not expect to achieve such brilliant results and were very grateful for the solid cooperation. Each individual on the team has an important contribution in achieving this victory. “We are proud to have proven that teamwork really works, and this is the result of our hard work for months,” said the student from the Department of Instrumentation Engineering.

In the future, the team is determined to continue developing innovations that contribute to renewable energy efficiency, especially in the use of hydrogen fuel. Support from ITS and various parties is an important factor in the development of this technology to be more competitive in the future. “We hope that Antasena can continue to innovate and bring the name of ITS and Indonesia further in the international arena,” concluded Aura optimistically.

Through this participation and achievement, the ITS Antasena team has contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This energy-efficient vehicle team supports the realization of SDG 7, namely Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9 in the form of Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 12, namely Responsible Consumption and Production by prioritizing resource efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions.
