ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) together with the Badung Regency Government, Bali; inaugurate Baliss’ (Blissful Balis’s Water), a Teaching Factory for Bottled Water as a form of synergy between the academic and industrial worlds. The inauguration, which took place on Monday (2/17), is expected to support the development of a quality and sustainable bottled water industry in Badung Regency.

ITS Rector Prof. Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD said that the establishment of the Teaching Factory is a strategic step in strengthening ITS’s relationship with the business and industrial worlds. The innovation will later enable students to not only gain theory, but also practical experience that is relevant to current industry needs. “With this Teaching Factory, they (students) can learn directly from the actual production process,” he said.

One of Baliss’ advantages is the application of the latest drinking water treatment technology that ensures high efficiency in production, while maintaining water quality according to health standards. This facility uses a sophisticated filtration system that utilizes ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membrane technology, which is able to filter contaminants down to the micron level, resulting in cleaner and safer drinking water for consumption.

In addition, Baliss’ also applies Internet of Things (IoT) technology in a real-time water quality monitoring system. Smart sensors installed at various production points enable continuous monitoring of water quality parameters such as pH, mineral content, and cleanliness. Data obtained from these sensors is analyzed using artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the production process and reduce waste.

Antusiasme masyarakat terhadap inovasi Baliss' yang unggul akan teknologi pengolahan air minum dalam kemasan yang efisien

Public enthusiasm for Baliss’ advanced innovation in efficient bottled water processing technology

Another advantage of this innovation is the use of renewable energy in its operations. By integrating solar panels to support electricity needs, Baliss’ is able to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources and support the principles of environmentally friendly industry.

Director of PT ITS Tekno Sains Dr Ir I Ketut Gunarta added that this facility is not only a production site, but also a research and innovation center for ITS academics and other universities in Bali and its surroundings. “With this Teaching Factory, it is hoped that it can improve people’s competency in drinking water treatment technology and its management system,” he added.

The inauguration of this facility is also in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially point 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation, and point 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. By implementing the latest technology and sustainability principles, Baliss’ is expected to provide a positive impact on society, industry, and the environment in a sustainable manner.

With the inauguration of the Bottled Water Teaching Factory, ITS has again demonstrated its commitment to developing technology and innovation in various regions in Indonesia. “Hopefully, this facility can be an example of synergy between academics and industry in producing innovations that are beneficial to society,” concluded Gunarta optimistically.
