ITS Campus, ITS News — With the increasing demands for competency in job competition, an alumnus of Instiut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) launched a digital platform called AkademiSipil. Under PT Askari Nusantara Group, this e-learning-based platform is designed as a place to improve competency for civil engineering students.
CEO of PT Askari Nusantara Group Helmy Ramadhani Chrisatama Sakti STrT as the creator of the platform explained that one of the reasons why many new graduates are still unemployed is because of the increasingly high job requirements. This shows a gap between the competencies possessed by graduates and the needs of the world of work. “It is recorded that every year 46 percent of new graduates have difficulty finding work,” explained the alumnus of D4 Civil Infrastructure Engineering ITS class of 2018.
Furthermore, Helmy explained, the poor quality of education also exacerbates the problem. Until now, there are still campuses in Indonesia that have not been able to provide access to the software learning needed for their students. “This causes many students to only rely on learning from YouTube channels,” he said.
Responding to the urgency, Chief Production of PT Askara Nusantara Group Arwindah Aribah Cahyani STrT MTr explained that AkademiSipil is a paid e-learning platform that provides knowledge on how to use software used in the field of civil engineering. With prices that are friendly to students’ pockets, users will get appropriate learning modules. “We continue to update the learning modules according to technological developments,” he said.
Not only theory, he explained, this platform also provides case studies that will continue to be updated regularly. Through these case studies, users not only gain basic knowledge, but also understand how to complete case studies with the software used. “Users can improve their abilities not only in terms of theory, but also practice,” said Arwindah.
This D4 Civil Infrastructure Engineering ITS alumnus said that one of the superior features on this platform is a discussion group with professional mentors. Through this group, users can interact directly with experts in their fields to get guidance on the problems they face. “In addition, this group can be a place to find relationships according to the desired field,” he said.
Arwindah added that after completing their learning period, users will receive an official certificate that can be used as proof of competence in the field they have studied. This certificate is expected to increase the opportunity to get a suitable job. “So that it can help users get the job they want,” he said.
The newly launched platform can be accessed via the page https://akademisipil.com/. It is hoped that this platform can be a solution for students who have difficulty finding work due to lack of skills. “With the skill up and certification features, we want to equip job seekers with the competencies needed by the current job market,” he concluded.
